Recently when getting changed I realised at the back of my legs there was 1 or 2 dark purple lines. I went into the bathroom and looked at them in a mirror and concluded they are thread veins. I'm afraid to wear shorts now after seeing them (I dont usually wear shorts much anyway). The veins look really horrible and they are sometimes itchy. Is there any treatment that doesnt involve having them surgically removed?

17yrs old

A lot of people in late, mid and early teens can go through a faze where veins become more noticeable through their skin. The "condition" does have a name, but I'll be buggered if I can remember it.If it really is a problem for you, you can have a chat with your GP how can recommend a course of action that you can take. I know a lot of people that have successfully used fake tan that will mask it.

Varicose veins?
-
Although I thought about varicose veins, Anon said thread veins not big lumps veins (although could be the start of them, but not "usually" found in someone "young").I'm still personally under the opinion that most people get varicose veins because they sit the majority of the time "cross legged"... think about old people and the actual position where they show.
