Do you think 18 is to young for a kid to know what they want to do with the rest of their life? I see, on here, quite often people younger than 18 knowing what they want to do or others asking people younger than 18 if they have a plan for what they want to do or have been working toward it. Speaking from personal experience I had no clue what I wanted to do at 18 but for the fields I was interested in it required I pick right then, for the most part. I picked something that I liked in life, architecture, and it has and will continue to be the worst mistake I ever made. I despise about 90% of my job. I wish I had taken a little time, or been given a little time, to figure out what I really liked in life.I'm just curious what people think about having to choose your life when your so young.

I think its way to young.I never figured shit out till I was in my 30s, and then it was too late, I had bills and kids and shit, no time for school, and really who the fuck is going to take someone my age seriously that just graduated college when applying for a job with a brand new degree?my age is the start of not wanting to be hired. To old to start to young to retire. mid 20s is good, they still got a lot of life left in them and sickness and injury is low, a good investment...38? fuck that guy, hes nearly 40, very few good years left in him! the younger one is stable as the older, and does not have so many years of injuries and shit built up on him!Its a shitty thing, but a fact of life.

It is pretty young... I had no idea what I wanted to do either. I figured it would be something technical. Definitly not something in the liberal arts. I was into my second year of college and was taking classes required of technical majors but I had no clear goal. I was thinking Bio-engineering (maybe I should have gone down that road) but some people I was studying math with started talking about delaring your major and were going into Electrical Engineering.. I took an electronics class in high school and had fun in it so I said .. what the hell, I'll do that..Now, I really don't enjoy it very much. Maybe it's the field or maybe it's the crappy company I work for.. There were always specific people responsible for the design end and I never really got a chance to have a true mentor and good tasks at designing. I do like messing with computers though and probably would have been a good programmer, but when I started college in '81.. there weren't many computers around so my exposure to that was negligible. Those who do find their calling at that age are lucky. I suppose you can always switch gears later in life, but it sure is hard once you have homes and families to do so.

I wish there was a more accessible internship program or something like that available before I had to declare. I don't know what else I would have done but it would have opened my eyes to the fact that this wasn't the right choice for me.So many, if not all, jobs have so little to do with what their about it may make people take a second look at the field they aspire to if they were something as simple as a runner in an office of their chosen field. Were your choice A and choice B professions are far apart in similarity I really think a kid should spend even just a week in each field to see what it's really like. For instance my choice "A" was architecture and my choice "B" was Game Ranger or Park Ranger. At the time I looked at Game/Park Ranger and saw how hard the courses where and how little the pay was and decided against it on that basis and decided on architect because I thought you got to be creative. Had I spent one typical week in an architects office seeing what they really do I would have run from this with all my energies. I'm just talking. Not every part of every job is fun but it's worth the effort to find out what the typical day really is like before you commit so much of yourself to something. I think more kids should try to see what the real work-a-day world is like in the profession they're so excited about.

I think it is way to young. I can't even count the number of people I go to school with who have changed their major atleast once. I know people who are changing in the second semester of their junior year. As it is it's i'm going to be stuck in school atleast an extra semester for this reason, and I am far from being the only one.

i did. kinda. i don;t have much choices Art is all i'm good at. I have tho changed majors (kinda) still in art but not graphic arts.

I was really lucky. One of my elder brothers pulled out of uni and left it all together because he rushed into it. As a result my parents allowed me to work before I decided to got to uni. I took a year off, got a hell of a lot out of my system and used that year to decide what I felt was best for me. Im studying now and everything I thought it would be has come so far. I am really glad I used that extra time to really think about it and did a couple of short time coarses as well work experience and volunteer work. Best year ever because I got to do a lot of soul searching for my my career and social life.

Reading this thread has made me so paranoid. I have wanted to do the same thing forever. I mean, when I was in my Disney years I wanted to be a princess, but that passed quickly enough.I don't know how to answer the ''choose your life when you're so young'' question. I'm not being cocky or anything, but right now I still feel certain as to what I want to do. Hopefully that won't change in the next six years. Or, well, ever.

I've been at my job 4 years now, I'm 22. There's not a day I wake up and think "damn, gotta go to work again" I kick ass at my job, and have a good relationship with my co-workers. Some people will know, and some won't. A lot of times though, when you like something, and make it your carrer it becomes more of a hassel then a fun pass time. Guess I got lucky, I would do my job for free I wouldn't worry, stuff works it way out.

+1I've always wanted to do the job that I'm currently in school for and I'm loving every minute of my major-specific classes. People think I'm crazy when I actually enjoy getting up at 4AM to go do what I want to do. I guess I just got lucky that way.

i murdered my first prostitute at age 17. i realized before 18 that fighting crime was what i wanted to do.

Well aren't you a sweet child! From no posts to 4 and now to 19 in so short a time!Normally Id encourage people to post freely, but in your case your a punk ass kid, insulted over a shitty video you thought was funny and are striking out like a 3 year old pitching a fit because his redneck parents need to refill his bottle with some pepsi so he can wander through the local swap meet with out thirst.Pussy farts, yeah that was a helpful, fun and wonderful comment, Insulting some members and one of the mods with the homo shit in another thread, The asinine claim of being a doctor and offering to see patients in another, The advice, and this is great, to not wear a rubber because it makes sex 3 times lamer, like you would know? playing five knuckle shuffle does not count as sex little one, its just jerking off, and you should wear a rubber, forever and always, would not want your genes swimming around our pool little boy. How to become better friends with a guy? here I quote "suck his dick. if he likes it do it more often. that's all. nothing more. blow him. " that is prime advise! is that how you make friends? THat would explain your previous anger at the homos, you little one are a classic case of a closet self loather. WHen you said your dick is 9 inches long and 12 wide... I think you are confused, the thread was how big is YOUR dick, not how big a cock would ya like slammed into your tonsils. Yet another doctor post, a bullshit suicide thread started by you, to that one, Id say yeah, put your head in the oven (only works on a gas stove so make sure its not electric) and then try to get your entire head in front of the shotgun before pulling the trigger, thanks for calling! The pot smoking and shooting your face off?FUcking moronic little shits like you are the reason the propaganda continues, you , you little fuck stain, are the reason responsible adults like me have to break the law to smoke a jay, for this alone Id like to turn you over my knee and spank you. Next we have the finger your ass if ya like it your gay... Is that how you determined your own sexual preference?Try it with a hot dog, that way you can have a hot meal when your done with your asshole. Get the ones that plump when ya cook em! and loose holes? I do think you may be qualified to answer that one, so tell me how many base ball bats can you get in your asshole at once and still walk a straight line? I bet your the traffic cone guy! You my little thorn in the ass of alaska, are a piece of shit, The best part of you is a brown stain on your mothers sheets.Do ya happen to know that your daddy and george bush made the same mistake? neither of them pulled out soon enough. Now fuck off, and go make some new guy friends! you know how to do that, stick to what ya know.

You just made me laugh so hard. I love you. The post of this page however is one of the few posts that isn't serious. The post about the condom was serious. He should just make sure his girl isn't a whore and make her get bc. I don't hate homos. One of my best friends is a homo.
