I skipped mine, better things to do ya know than sit around a big hall with people I hated and had to see daily at school, why the fuck would I want to go and see them at night?
There is far better shit than prom, I have never regretted not attending mine and its been over 20 years.

I missed it...

Why is she suggesting you see a therapist? Do you have any other symptoms of depression?

Hey OneOh1, welcome to the forum. I also didn't go to prom, simply because I didn't have a date and was quite depressed because of how things were going in my life. If I were you I really wouldn't worry about it. Seriously, I missed my prom which I felt bad about for a week or so afterwards. After that time I totally forgot all about it. Honestly prom is so "overrated" and you are still young enough to enjoy several more opportunities headed your way, like college for example. I think society puts too much emphasis on prom especially with television shows, movies, commercials, etc. You know it could be worse, you could be older like me and be in the beginning of your mid twenties and still be going through rough times. I never had a date for prom or any other event throughout high school and college because most girls said I looked too young for them because I have a really skinny physique, hardly any facial hair, pale skin and a baby face. Whenever I asked girls out, they always replied “are you serious?” or “ewww... you're too young for me!” even though I was the same age or older than them. Girls always made up excuses like “I don’t feel like it” or “I’m too busy” meanwhile a week or so later they are dating someone and usually these guys were the one’s that were built, could grow facial hair and resembled a man. Today I still look the same as I did when I was a teenager and still don't resemble a man yet and it gets worse. What I mean is now that I am finished college, most employers that see me don't want to hire me because of my boyish, kiddish looks. As we all know unemployment and lack of income leads to serious depression, which I am pretty darn sure I have. I’m also still single, while most of my peers are either living common law, engaged, married or even have kids, while I still can’t even find a date at my age. I know that was a bit off topic but anyways all I'm saying is it could be worse and for myself, life is more difficult now than when I was your age. Even then I still have no regrets of not going to prom and I'm nearing a decade since I had mine. If I were you I would encourage you to talk to someone about your problems, you will feel a lot better doing so. Only go if you feel comfortable to do so. Best of luck to you!

prom is for gays. are you a gay?
-
OneOh1, are you a guy or girl? Obviously prom means a lot more to girls than to guys, at least in my opinion. I'm a guy and like I mentioned I didn't attend my prom but got over the whole issue a week or so later. I have no regrets about not going to prom.
