Do people say "good morning" or "good evening" or "hello" or whatever the appropriate salutation would be where you work? Maybe it's my small town folksy ways but I always extend some sort of acknowledgment, until recently anyway. I just gave up and quit. No one here ever says good morning and when I would say it one of them simply wouldn't respond the other would say "good morning" begrudgingly, so I just quit saying anything but that seems odd. To me you should give some sign your aware of the person sitting across from you. I just find it odd that people give no acknowledgment of people they have to work with. Is it just me?

Do people say
-
I honestly only extend pleasantries to a select few people here at work and that’s because they have always done the same for me… there is one lady here I am close to and we usually always give each other a hug or some type of polite physical contact to greet each other.Everyone else at work though can go kiss off lol
-
Well fuck you then. I say hello whether I like you or not or whether you like me or not. So, hello.
But there's only three of us back here and we all work in the same, not so big, space. ... Maybe it is just being from a small town.

most places I've worked are full of "good morning"s "hi"s and "hello"sThe manager where I worked a while back would walk the whole office every morning to say good morning to everyone by name. Admittedly, he's an older dude.I wouldn't go that far but I always make salutations to the people I pass and would never dream of ignoring the same. Some people a re weird I guess.Shit, I tend to say hi to people on the street although more so in my neighbourhood than down town and definately while on a community trail.

Please dont stop! People like you and I are becoming rare I find! I talk to ALL my co-workers. Even the ones at my office job.. im definetly the youngest one here! Always "Hello!! How are you doing today??" or how was your weekend. I even say it to random people who walk by when im hiking or walking. I find alot of people will even say it to me first.
-
Neither. It's "what up yall!"lol noBronxville is like... the richest town is Westchester other than Scarsdale. And because people are being paid 1 million dollars a year they're ALWAYS CHIPPER! "Oh my gosh hello Abigail! (they say the WHOLE name) How aaaaarrreee youuuuu?? You look lovely today!! tehehehehehehehehe"must be nice to be filthy stinkin BUTT rich!
-
I agree with you, Scotty. I would find it odd to pass a co-worker for the first time in the day without some form of verbal salutation, at least at the beginning of the day. Later in the day it might be just a nod of the head.
-
I always say hello or smile or whatever. And most people say it back. I don't like it if someone doesn't even aknowledge me.
-
I always do! Even if people are in that "F off!" mood. Surprisingly enough, most of the kids in my school aren't that way though...wouldn't be expected from teenagers!

If I see my boss when I come in I usually ask how’s the water. I say hi or wave to whoever is at the front desk. Because I;m at work before Shannon, she comes by the windows and waves… I guess she don’t count cuz she’s my girl haha Saying good morning or evening is something I was brought up to say just like yes sir or ma’am. When I hold the door open for someone I usually say something like good evening, ma’am (or sir). If it’s a group of people I usually just nod my head unless someone says something to me. - Usually I’m saying your welcome. My teachers at college (so far) always greet with good morning.
-
I'd be happy if you were the first person I said good morning too
-
I just nod at them and stumble off, its pointless to talk to me till I had a smoke and a pot of coffee.
-
That depends on who it is does it not?
Most people Ill nod to or say "hey, how goes it?"
some people though is look at in disbelief and say"Why the fuck are you talking to me?"
Not strangers, them I at least let them know I noticed and am not catatonic but walking, but specific people its "Why the fuck would you dare to talk to me prick?" -
So do you greet people when you walk in the door or not? I'm confused.
-
a quick nod of my head and a 'hey'.
Or with my son in the morning its a get up or Ill let the dog in your room. He rolls over and pretends I do not exist then I tell the dog "GET HIM!"
This leads to her jumping on the bed and sticking her head under the now pulled up blankets and licking any part of him that she can get to, mostly his face.
Then I say, "ya know she eats poop? ya like that dog licking ya? get up and Ill call her off."
This is 4 out of 5 days of the week. Does this count as a greeting?BTW shes a big dog with a big tongue and comes in at just over 50 lbs, its effective.
Is that a morning greeting?
strangers? fuck em. I say hello back, but never start it. -
when I sleep over atr the girl friend's place, I'm usually woken up by sloppy licks... from a goofy beagle I get fucking pissed if people won't hold the door for someone. Years ago, I went to a fancy bistro with my wife. The ass-hat mayor of this city walked out as we walked in and he let the door swing in my wife's face. What a fucking arrogant moron!
-
I held the door for this bitch today and she didn't even say thank you. Not even a smile. Next time I'm going to let the door hit her in the face.
-
holding the door is a different subject entirely! If I walk in or out and look back and see someone with in 10 seconds of reaching the door Ill hold it, man woman or child, any further off than that? Fuck em, shoulda been there.
-
well duh!
I hold the door as a coutesy, not a career lol
