I just thought of this last night. I thought it would be a good idea to Lower the drinking age to 18 BUT raise the BUYING age to 25. My logic behind this is that anyone who is 18 already can get an older sibling who's 21 to buy them alcohol, but it would be harder to find someone who's 25 (and hopefully a little more mature) I think a 25yr old would be less likely to buy an underage person alcohol.I know this proposal has its flaws but the current law does nothing. This thought would also take the rebelliousness factor out of drinking. Anyone else have any better ideas or amendments to mine?

Is this a good idea?

Or just lower the age to 18. After all, you are legally an adult at 18. You can do pretty much everything else by 18. If the government thinks you're responsible enough to vote for the President of the country, why should you not be responsible enough to drink alcohol?

I think we should lax a lot of drug laws. We spend so much money trying to stop people from hurting themselves. If people want to kill themselves with drugs so be it. But the problem is people on drugs are sometimes dangerous to others. Those are the ones we need to crack down on.

The problem with drugs is that everyone who uses them are seen as criminals. They should be treated as if they have an illness, which is what addiction is. Treat the sickness, not the symptoms.
-
But if you don't start, you don't develop the illness, see? Besides, the US spends more treating addictions than trying to stop it (drug trafficking), which is pretty much astronomically high, anyway.
Another good idea, to everyone's benefit, (I'm not a proponent, but it makes logical sense) is to legalize marijuana, and make the sin taxes out-the-wazoo high. Then, you have that, legally, to have fun with, and the gov't get's a good chuck of change in the process.

Exactly hike the hell out of marijuana tax. People would pay it..or just keep getting it illegaly.
