especially because I know it gives Thor great pain...
Thors thorn.
Go ahead thor, spout off about Obama destroying god and America. Maybe a comment about him being the antichrist?
Your anguish brings me great waves of joy

This gives me great joy...

Sorry, but I don't understand why marriage would be an issue, if it does not involve you
-
Well, it might not involve you as you don't live in this country. But changing the definition of marriage effects everyone who lives here, married or not, and some would argue to a certain extent those who live elsewhere as well (since it might be considered the beginning of a trend). You have to think of what the results would be down the road...not just immediately.
-
So you think the definition of marriage is different in Canada and the US????So you think that gay people should be treated just like slaves were back in the day .. just because they are GAY!?
-
Well, don't jump the gun, Steph. In thor's defense, he never said that they should be treated like and/or as slaves. He just doesn't agree with changing the definition of marriage. Now this I can see, given he answer this:Do you have a problem with gays being "united", to plug in for "married"? Is it just changing what the word implies/means/signifies that you have an issue with?>>and besides, the states that allow gay "marriage" now, in the courts, it's probably filed as a "civil union", and the news papers, websites, media, etc. just writes it up as marriage. Because in that sense, they're the same thing, the binding of two individuals with paper, and love, together into one. You know what I mean? The respective other to one, isn't referred to as a 'husband' or 'wife', either. They're 'domestic partners'. So if it's all written that way, (David takes Josh to be his domestic/life partner in this civil union/domestic partnership, etc.) is it as much of a problem?

See, to me, if someone has an issue with gays being married, I get offended. Because to me, it is the same equivalent as people disagreeing with an african american and a caucasian getting married. Or any other mixed race. It's not a lifestyle CHOICE. It's a lifestyle. They aren't huring anyone by loving the same sex, and if you or anyone else is so uncomfortable with same sex marriage, then maybe it's YOU who have issues instead of the marriage itself. Are you that uncomfortable with your sexuality to disagree with it? It has nothing to do with my sexuality, or any other thing that would affect my life. If anything, it makes me happy because I love knowing that two people can love each other unconditionally, even if there are so many people against it.
-
But see, getting that through the heads of the >50% of America that thinks that "Oh hey, I want to be gay, and I also want to be discriminated against, in all fashions." won't happen anytime soon. The world for that matter. When it's been taught so long that being homosexual is wrong, etc. that's not something that leaves someone so quickly. It's good though, what Obama is doing.
-
Well people need to start changing. Instead of being old fashioned.
-
Once it's us who are the old-somethings, we'll show them what for.
-
What is wrong with Gay people being married?
-
Why would you be offended?Anyways, it's not the same as black/white marriage. His stance is that marriage is a sacred covenant that can only take place between a man and a woman. This subject has nothing to do with "his" sexuality or whether he accepts homosexuality.
-
Apparently everything. I guess it's better for gay people to just never find someone to be with forever. I guess it makes more sense for them to not deserve marriage, like normal people, because they're inhuman. sorry, I just think it's effed up for people to get so worked up on two people loving each other and getting married..
-
I'd kinda just like him to tell me what wrong with gay marriage. I have a feeling that he doesn't respond to me anymore because he feels that I'm attacking/insulting him or just wasting his time.So I'd like to openly and friendly talk about it. If I get out of hand, say something stupid or insulting, call me on it and I'll correct it or clarify it or something. I enjoy talking to Thor about stuff.
-
I'm still waiting to hear what all these dire consequences are (other than another thread)
-
I think we're sometimes a little rough with thor. We need to lighten up a bit.
-
Quote:So you think that gay people should be treated just like slaves were back in the day .. just because they are GAY!? Umm lets not get carried away. I think homosexuals are MUCH better off than the slaves 200 years ago...

wasnt talking 200 years ago.

I just feel like people should have equal rights. Have gay people done something wrong?? really?? Is love wrong??
