July 18th will be our 1 year, and I was planning on buying him an acoustic guitar... I dont really have a lot of funds, but can someone help me decide on a decent brand? He really likes Jasmine, but it's pricy. I want to get him a guitar that he LOVES. I know he will because it's from me, but if its a shitty guitar, he will want another one in a few months. My limit is around $150-200.HELP!
-
Help me too!
-
In my opinion, it seems like a pricey gift given your recent history. Are you trying to "buy" his affection?
-
=/ Okay... No I am not. I had it planned for about 3 months.
-
IDK.. It still seems like a bit much to me.
-
What would you recommend then? I had plans to get him that for a lonnnnng time now. And all that shit happened to me, but I don't know, I still want to do something nice. MAybe i'll just give him a card and write "here's your present: I didn't leave you"lol...
-
Yikes dont spend $200!!!! Paint him a picture and write him a poem!!!
-
I painted him a picture for christmas...
-
By the way, he's booking the honeymoon suite at a hotel, and he's getting me something and taking me out to dinner... I have a feeling he's getting me a promise ring.
But then again he understands that I have very little money right now, and he clears $350 CAD a week.
BUT, every secdond week he puts a check away for school.
-
Keeping in mind that the details of your recent history are a bit fuzzy to me now, I say your either in the relationship or not. I don't agree with holding back to see how things go first... but I've never been shit on either, so...I don't see a problem with getting him a guitar if that's what you want to get him, as long as it's because you want him to have it. Only give people things out of a genuine desire for them to have it, not to try and buy affections or not to try and outdo something. Now don't put yourself in a financial hardship giving him something though. If it's going to be that hard for you afford it consider something less expensive that he will want or like just as much. Sometimes those smaller things end up meaning more anyway....there I've been absolutely no help. My mind is just disjointed right now.
-
Ah, well...you're old enough to make you own decisions about what's right and wrong. Life is a learning experience anyway. I'm not sure what you can get for $200, but the best bang for the buck in acoustic guitars is Seagull...and they're made in Canada.
-
You should get him a gift certificate at a guitar store to help him towards buying a guitar.. that way he can buy exactly the one he wants.you guys have celebrated every month anniversarys right???
-
Nah we dont really "celebrate" every month. We just remember. I want to get him something more meaningful than a certificat I don't know what to do. I'm freaking out about it, because I have like, no money, and I just had to dish out more money to give Dad because he moved away today, and i might have to loan mom some money too until dad gets paid.. sigh
-
I wanted to get him a guitar for a long time, because he is really talented when it comes to music, and he can just pick up pretty much any instrument and learn "by ear" he plays bass, drums, piano, and acoutsic guitar. and he only started playing acoustic over christmas, and hes pretty damn good. so i want him to stay motivated. so thats why i want to get him something like that. and plus i want a huge wow factor. haha
-
okay cool, thanks!he really likes jasmine though, id sell my left nut to buy him a jasmine if i could.
-

I'm sure he'll understand. You don't need to spend hundreds to wow your boyfriend. It's the thought that counts. Cliché, I know but, like Scotty said, the little things give a bigger meaning.I like Stephie's idea. He writes songs, so why not write him a poem? Or make him one of your awesome cakes? Or paint him something original? I know you painted him The Joker for Christmas, but there's nothing wrong with sharing each other's talents. Maybe paint him something based on his songs?

why an accoustic guitar? why not an electric one?electric guitars rock. you can do much more with them.ever heard those crazy artificial harmonics in a lot of metal songs? they sound absolutely craaaazy! i love those harmonics.good electric guitar companies are:prs (cost like 3000 $)bc rich (start pretty cheap)ibanez (start pretty cheap)jackson (start pretty cheap)gibson (more expensive)epiphone (start pretty cheap)fender (more expensive)
-
The drawbacks of an electric guitar is the need for an amp and it's not something you can take along with you and play anywhere.I bought my son a Fender Stratocaster.. now that was a lot of money.. but plays his acoustic guitar much more. I think it's an Epiphone.
-
Nope he doesn't want an electric. He's more of an acoustic guy. But thanks

Plz dont spend too much money ash. You cant. Do something that is sentimental to both of you.. something that is very dear to both of you.
