So this has been on me for a while and it hasn't caused any problems, it doesn't bother me, I'm just curious about it and what it is.

It looks as though it could be a fungal infection.. how long have you had it for? Try some clotrimazole cream for jock itch/athletes foot!
It happened on and off from about 14-16 and then once i hit 16 it's just been like this. I mean, it's just a different skin tone I'm assuming but I'm wondering why there and why has it not just always been there.
Hmmm, but he says that the discolouration comes and goes.. it really does look like a fungal thing to me...
Yes, it does look like a fungal infection, though I would have expected there to be itching and/or flaking as well.It wouldn't hurt to try an antifungal cream on it to see if it has any effect.
Oh I didn't know that I was just going by what I've seen previously! And I know that some fungal infections don't itch..
If you started shaving at fourteen then you mY have been shaving it wrong so it could just be a scar that just came in and I do not suggest showing it to your parents if they are homophobic but that's just me

How is showing one's pubic area to a parent (or parents), if there's a legit medical issue, considered a form of a homosexual act?Do you think it's gay to show a male doctor your junk if you felt there may be a problem?
O not that the fact that it's shaved. If my parents found out that I shaved then they would know for sure that I'm Gay that's all I was saying.
Shaving doesn't make a man gay....
Where on earth did you pick up such a ludicrous idea?
Now that you know that but old people don't know that like parents or at least in small towns they don't.

I think you are over thinking things. I grew up in a very small town and I can tell you straight people trim just as much as gay people. Rather "ick" of me to know but my father is 57 years old and he trims. Trimming the pubic areas is not a young thing or a homosexual thing by any means.
looks like jock itch to me, just go see a doctor

I had this jock itch problem when I was between 16-18 and never took proper care of it even though it was flaking and itching. Later got to know it was jock itch and used antifungal creams and all and it never happened again. Im 29 now and I'm goin to be married soon and there is visible discolouration on both my thighs..I'm from the indian subcontinent and in general my pubic area when compared to my other body parts is 3-4 shades darker. I dont know if this is normal or if I haven't taken care of myself well when I was younger but I sure very well remember of taking showers twice a day for the last 29 years and keeping the shaft area clean. Now problem is after this one and off jock itch attack the affected areas have become whitish/pinkish in colour and I'm sure the partner will mind it during sex. It doesnt react or no flaking and all but its like some old war injury. Is there anythign I can do abt this to get it back to normal pubic area color? or can i make that patch look darker? Thanks
Hi wildgoat, welcome to A2A.
It's quite normal for the pubic area to be a little darker. It doesn't have anything to do with cleanliness. It seems that the infected areas, though, might have a lot of scar tissue in them. I'm not sure that anything can be done but you could consult a dermatologist. The idea of considering it as like an old war injury seems to me to be a good one. Your partner may not even notice, but if it is noticed you can just say it's a scar from an old bad fungal infection, now long healed.

It looks rather painful. Do you have those blotches anywhere else on your body? it looks like a rash of some kind to me. What have you been putting on it? Did it start out with one spot and spread to the size it is shown?
If it was me? or you were my kid,I would want to to feel like you could ask me anything or show me anything..
Talk to your dad. Tell him you have a concern about a skin irritation on your pubic area and was wondering if he could have a look at it and maybe tell you what it is. Don't be afraid. That is one things parents are for. to help you understand things.
showing your private parts to your dad is gay. Showing him is a smart thing to do.
I have kids. I would want my kids to ask me questions about it. If my kid showed me what you have I'd make an appointment for the doctor right away.
Be a man!
