I noticed some red spots on my inner thigh about a month ago. They burn and itch a little but it is not intense at all. They are small and pimple like, they do not have puss and are not open. They have a little bit of flaking skin but nothing too bad. I went to my doctor and asked her about them and she discounted them saying that they were nothing serious and that I could use hydrocortizone on them if I wanted. I've been using hydrocortizone for about a week and have seen no changes. I'm sexually active and had had intercourse, while wearing a condom with two different partners within the few months prior to the rash appearing. Based on my doctors advice, I didn't think these were serious and started having sex with another partner within the last week. After noticing that they were not getting better and actually appeared to be getting worse I became concerned that my doctor may have misdiagnosed the rash. What are these? Are they STD related? Is it possible/likely that I may have passed them to my new partner? Should I be concerned?";

I'm wondering if they are pubic lice. You could try treating the area with insecticide (insect repellent with pyrethrins will do).

It sounds like just a rash

Based on comments I got from a dermitoligist on another message board who said it looked like some sort of fungal infection, possibly jock itch or some sort of yeast infection, I tried treating it with clotrimazole. I'm pleased to say that the irritation is almost gone, however, based on my understanding of fungal infections I'm going to continue using the the ointment for two weeks. Thanks for your comments.
