This past weekend my partner and I had sex, and immediately after I orgasmed I had a headache. About 30 minutes later it turned into a severe migraine, to the point I thought I was going to vomit and the sound of any noise just made me nauseous; I couldn’t even keep my eyes open. I even almost had Adam take me to the hospital because I was worried something else was wrong.Has this happened to anyone else before? I’m sure this isn’t normal but what could cause something like this to happen? Granted it was a pretty intense orgasm but I mean come on! I have never experienced anything like this before and I sure hope it never happens again!

Orgasm = Migraine Headache

I have heard of people getting headaches after orgasms. Something to do with blood pressure I would assume. It's happened to me once or twice but they went away on their own and didn't get as bad as you described... If it keeps happening then I would ask a doctor about it. Can't hurt.

Like leelee said blood pressure. I've gotten very mild and brief headaches after a particularly intense orgasm before but nothing like what you described. Is your blood pressure okay otherwise?

Yeah my blood pressure is always spot on and perfect.
I wouldn't think the change in my Thyroid levels would cause any of that..? I guess thats something I can address the doctor in a couple weeks when she checks my levels again.
-
I think actually it would. I think that they thyroid can mess with blood pressure levels. Maybe it's, although I doubt it, a change in hormone levels? I would assume you're on medication, if you have thyroid problems, but I wouldn't think that hormone fluctuations would cause a migraine. Just a thought.

Hmm good point.. but yeah I am on medication, but a low dose right now. I'm still in the beginning stages of my medication as they find the right balance to get my levels back up to normal. I believe right now its a .025mg dose. So pretty low.

Have you had headaches before? Maybe ones not as extreme as this one, but even minor ones? Maybe you didn't think much of them at the time, but now you might be able to connect them and maybe you should talk to a doctor about it, or ask when you can up your dosage, and see if that helps?Maybe as a preventative measure, you could take some pain meds or something beforehand next time? Then it won't be as bad, but you still might be able to tell if there's a pattern.

In the past I've had incidences where I'd get small headaches after having an orgasm, but nothing that would last a long time or be extreme like a migraine. Often times it would last at most 10-15 minutes than it would clear up. But this last episode lasted for the rest of the day and eventually fell asleep for the night with it. Even the next morning when I woke up my head still hurt, but thankfully the migraine was gone.

Depending on the circumstances that lead to the orgasm Adam may be able to say he "blew you head off..." Sorry, sorry.. sorry. Sometimes I type shit just to entertain myself.
-
Or that he "fucked your brains out..."That's it I'll go off and play by myself now.

I don't get headaches like that, but after I masturbate and orgasm more than one time I get nauseous, it feels really bad (it's equivalent to the nausea I feel the first day of my period, and that's not good) and it doesn't go away quickly either.When I was younger (high school and earlier) and was masturbating, this wasn't a problem. I posted about this a while back.

Although I have no experience in the subject, it sounds to me like this was/is an ongoing problem, one that worsened over time.
Next time you see your doctor, whether it be a GP or specialist, I'd mention it, as embarrassing as it may be. Maybe there's some simple underlying problem, one that can be fixed in short order. -
Quote: as embarrassing as it may beActually my doc and I have a really open relationship about anything and everything sexual lol. Back when I was on anti-anxiety medication we talked very openly about me not being able to ejaculate lol. I had a very rare side effect with the medication rightfully called "Ejaculation Failure". We've talked about sex toys...yeah we are rather open about sex lol. So I won't feel too uncomfortable talking to her about this issue as well :). Its nice having such an open and comfrotable relationship with my doctor. I just always hate to complain, especially if it ends up being nothing at all.

Well then that's a really good thing! Most people don't have such a relationship with their doctors.Then I would mention it, lol. And don't feel like you're complaining, it has to do with your health, and that's one thing that you never want to mess with. It could very easily be nothing, but people that have a backache one minute can later die of a heart attack. You know what I mean?
