So earlier this week my vag started itching a lot, sometimes it had a burning feeling to it, so I decided to look it up online. A few months ago I had sex with my friend who had Herpes, So I thought mayyybe I had symptoms after this long. I ruled that out.So I waited a few more days, tried looking up something to stop the burning/itching and nothing really worked. Today however, I went to the washroom, and when I wiped there was a nasty thick white residue on the toilet paper. So I freaked out and went searching again. And I do believe I have a yeast infection.I've never had one before, my mom said they dont run in the family. So I was confused of how I could get one. I think maybe its from some antibiotics I just finished for having Tonsillitis. There was some new medication mixed with the regular meds for throat infections and stuff. I suppose that is what caused a yeast infection. So, whats worrying me the most is if I treat it what are my chances of getting another one? Is it like a permanent thing if i get a yeast infection that I'll have another one like next month or month after? And what do you recommend for treatment? my mom and I are pretty much broke, so I cant afford any medical treatment for it, unless its under like 20$ Any kind of foods, or drinks I can have that will make it go away? My boyfriend isnt going to be too pleased, though we had sex about a week before I got sick (around two weeks ago) but I dont think I should be having sex while this is going on "down there". Right?

Yeast infection?!?!

Oh, and is it contagious?!?!?!

A yeast infection isn't a genetics thing. It's a common female infection that happens for various reasons such as poor diet, poor hygiene, clothes, etc. You can treat it with antibotics from a doctor. It's not a permanent thing either. Just keep yourself clean, wear breathable panties, and avoid wearing tight bottoms when possible. But it could happen again. You could also try over the counter stuff but I'm not sure how well it works. Worth a shot. And yes, it's contagious. Wait until it clears up before you have sex again.

Correction: Yeast infections are not treated by antibiotics. You can buy yeast infection suppositories and creme at the grocery store. You don't need a doctor (if it is indeed a yeats infection).
