I recently graduated high school and have been looking for a job for the whole summer but with no luck. School starts soon and I'm all signed up for that but I feel like I have even less of a chance now because of school hours. I've turned in 30+ applications and have gotten up to the 2nd out of who knows how many interviews from one place, but then was told I was not eligible for the third, and the reason I got those interviews was because the company was doing an open house and mass hiring. I feel pretty useless because I live at my parents house still and clean up around here so they don't think I'm completely useless like I do. I don't really know what else to do besides keep looking for work which has and keeps seeming to be a pointless effort, and this is really starting to stress me out. I don't really know how I expect people to reply to this, but any reply would be nice. I'm glad there's A2A to vent about stuff like this.

I don't know why you are beating yourself up over this.. The economy sucks. There are LOTS of people without jobs and the unemplyed numbers are high. This means more competition.... So keep looking..

If you have school, and you think you can juggle both schooling and work, try applying for jobs in which you can work overnight shifts, that way you can keep your schedule open daily for them. I understand that it is difficult to get a job right out of highschool, but it is entirely possible, even in this economy, so long as you keep your options open. You'd be suprised who's hiring. Try going to Snagajob.com They have thousands of openings and it's really easy to apply for each job. Take the jobs no one wants ... I just applied to be the chick-fil-a cow mascot .. why? Because it's still a paycheck and I don't have to smile while in the suit. Currently I work as an overnight clerk at an adult video store -why?-'cause no one else wanted the job. Suprisingly enough, I'm completely safe and the ratio of creepy guys to normal ones is relatively minimal. Broaden your options - You'll get a job.
