From what you learn. If that makes sense?
I mean like... if you learn something, how do you keep yourself from totally indulging yourself into it so it doesn't effect the way you think too much?
-
How do you separate yourself
-
Such as?
-
Can you give an example.
-
Do you mean something like..."OMG I LOVE cake, but it has a billion grams of fat per 1 ounce."That kind of thing, principally?

Well I'm taking two courses in Women and Gender Studies. Both professors are feminists... die hard. And doing some of the reading has really opened my eyes and helped me understand why things are the way they are. And it does make me a little annoyed but you know... whatever. And I was talking to one of my guy friends and we were "starting" to have a discussion until he totally dismissed what I said and pretty much put down what I said and going back to what I read one of the things they mentioned was how men have a tendency to talk down to women because of the inferiority/superiority complex going on between the genders. And I got on his case about it and... I feel like I went a bit overboard, but I can't help how I feel... like everything starts to make sense as to how I'm treated by people in general.I'm trying not to indulge completely in my studies so I don't become... "that way". It's just a little disturbing you know? I don't know if I made sense.

Personally I totally agree with femenist (knows that if there was a female president that the world would be so much better).
Well you could just keep your emotions out of it. I have the same problem.

i had to do this in my psychology classes mostly - mainly a certain psych class. It was hard to sit in class and think the teacher is talking about you. I also had this a few times in a few Edu classes when they talked about abuse signs in students. it’s not easy to do. Specially when your mind is spinning and thinking shit like question. Like why didn’t they realize it. Why wasn’t I asked or talked too.. If they know the signs then why didn’t the hospitals never ask or the teachers just ignore me cus I was quite and didn’t create any problems. Yea, it gets to you. On the flip side I learned some things about myself too.. Not so much about myself but just more about understanding some things. I mean like in a particular psychology class we had a unit on ptsd.. I was nervous as hell when we got into that unit but I understand my disorder and it’s levels now. I dk if that’s exactly what your saying or not - maybe you meant something totally different. In the opinion rage maybe. I have my opinions and my beliefs- everyone does. Maybe you might have to put your head in the this is my teachers opinion… not a fact. Example a teacher says women should just be teachers and office workers cus there not made for out door hard work (bs).. That’s his opinion. You know women can whatever the hell they want too. (I picked that cus of your feminist post - haha)

Yea I know I'm trying... soooo hard to keep my emotions out of it but it's like... I know! haha like I see it and everything makes sense and it annoys the crap out of me. Like..I don't know I feel like it's screwing with my head...
-
Yea it's almost what you're talking about.. sorta.. lolIt's pretty much when I read certain things like in this book Feminist Frontiers they mentioned that usually when a woman does "typical manly" things like building or administrating or anything along those lines she's said to have a "masculine mentality". Just the whole ideal of women being equated to delicacy. I mean it makes sense to me now why I may have been treated a certain way at previous employments or at school etc etc (that's the stuff that pissed me off) but now it's like... NOW I KNOW and then I experience it and I have a different reaction to it then I normally would when I didn't know... catch my drift?
-
just don't turn to a man hater. were not all pigs or muncho men. and i don’t deny it that women are strong. I acually like my women strong
-
lol I'll always have a soft spot for men... naturally... you guys are cute I'm more fearful of turning into a man-sympathizer for being so pathetic as to constantly succumb to the "need" of sexual satisfaction...uuughhh lol
-
yea. my mom bails hay, rides horses, hammers nails, mends fences - farm shit. she very much does a "man's job" but noone would know it by just her apperence. btw, there is nothing hotter than a girl that rides a MX...

we all are a sum of our knowledge. what we learn is what we are. That's why so many people are learned but ignorant. The best anyone can do is keep searching for more knowledge and keep listening to different opinions. Only then will you gain the wisdom to be able to temper the bias of your teachers, ministers, elders, etc etc. and in turn, become less biased yourself.

I don't think you do separate yourself. You take it in apply it to your life and move on to the next insight and do the same while tempering all with just reason. Continue to do this throughout your life and you will always continue to grow. Stop and you will stagnate and wither to a smaller person with narrower less forgiving views of the world and her peoples. As long as you keep your horizons broad your opportunities will more often be broad as well.
-
Its all about voicing your personal opinion. Just talk about what you believe in.You dont have to believe what youre learning in school.. You just need to remember it for tests, essays, etc.
-
Be careful about what you accept as knowledge in the first place. Question it! Just because it's in a textbook or because a teacher told you does not mean it's going to be true. For example, how do you think a feminist is going to portray men? Do you think maybe their point of view might be skewed a bit? Again, question what they try to get you to believe in. One of the things a feminist will never tell you is that the majority of domestic assault cases come from women attacking men...not the other way around. A feminist will try and show you police stats, but men seldom file a report with the police. Look for stats based on private polls to get the real answer.Second, be careful how much junk you expose yourself to in general...just like radiation, constant contact will always result in a certain amount of contamination. You may not believe something today...but 5 years from now you might end up having a completely different opinion. Will it be based on the truth, or something else?

Yes, White Anglo-Saxon Protestant men suffer greatly at the heavy handed women and minorities that seek nothing but the destruction of their worldly insight. You know suffering in silence has done nothing but allow your oppressors to gain ever greater control. I think perhaps it's time to put aside your manly honor, stand forth, and proclaim your victim-hood to the world. In so doing you may find that the light of truth will itself vanquish those who seek to hold you down and shackle the great unknown potential that is pent up inside the minds of all your white brothers.

...and bringing race into it, too? Somebody certainly woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Seeking to rectify only one injustice against your person does little to better your woeful situation in life. As men beset by racial, sexual and humanistic liberal agendas you must take action on all fronts to preserve the small bit of divine creation left in your noble quintessence. You must let the radiant cross light the dark night sky of your soul and warm your hearts that have been left vacant and cold by the usurpers of truth.
