Even you as a youngun', you probably understand the concept of there being fire where there is smoke. Folks don't ask others to cover something up unless there's something that they think needs to be covered up. Now...let's see what you'd like to dream up as to the meaning those emails, in the interest of not having to pay attention to them. Afterall, we wouldn't actually want to have to believe it's all a hoax after we've publically painted ourselves into a corner, now would we.

You, who have not read the emails, are trying to tell someone who has, what must be in them.
Is there any stupidity of which you are not capable, thor?
-
You think I want Global Warming to be true? Why?? I have no vested interest in it and I would be fully open and relieved if it turned out to be false. But the science massively points towards it being true.

I have read some, though not all. You do seem to be just about the most arrogant person on the planet right about now. How does it feel?

Science doesn't belong to anyone. That you and people like you think it must, is I think very telling. It suggests a mind that requires a leader. There is to be an investigation into the research at this particular university institute. This is very appropriate, when the honesty of treatment of data is called into question. But this institute is not the only place where climatology research is carried out - it is only one of many. Of course that will not stop the conspiracy theorists, who have no trouble believing in the idea that each person in many groups across the world is a liar, despite the innate improbability.

One side buys into global warming and seems to think there is something to be gained (scientific or otherwise) by silencing those that don't follow suit. Then there's the other, increasingly larger group that does not buy into this scam, and who are increasingly interesting in letting the public know they're being duped by folks interesting is making a lot of money off of the increasingly few common citizens of this world that still have some. You need to start thinking for yourself for a change. Give me a high five Christian!(Yes please note my sarcasm... incase you had trouble seeing it...)

There's a difference between degrading people and not allowing yourself to play into their game of feigned stupidity...a game that you are certainly familiar with whenever it works to your advantage.

I'm reminded of the apocryphal story of the maths professor who started in class a mathematical line of reasoning with the words, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is obvious that . . .".Then he paused. "At least, I think it is obvious that . . .".He paused again, thinking for five minutes."I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, I'll have to check this out. I'll be back later."He went off to his office. Half an hour later he came back."It's all right - yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is obvious that . . .".

ok, time to weigh in
This is sad and shameful on many levels. I think the major point being ignored is who is ultimately to blame.
POLITICIANS
Yes, the scientists at CRU (only one of many environmental science organisations) fucked up. But under what pressure did they surrender? If it wasn't for self serving, non-scientist, politicians like Al Gore and Lord Moncton, pressing their own agenda with the trail of money, the scientific method could follow it's own course.
Does this disprove the science? Of course not, you'd have to be dense as dinosaur shit to think it does. What it does show is that a few assholes can mess things up for a while. The true scientific method includes test and retest. This mess offers an opportunity to retest. I'll follow the science rather than the rhetoric. Can everyone say the same?

fair enough. As I have no political or spiritual affiliation to satisfy and as long as the influence peddling within the scientific community can be kept to a minimum (fingers and toes and eyes crossed) I really have no choice but to accept the results. Never forgetting, however, to look to the sources and be mindful of creeping special interest behind the scene.

Addendum: The Climate Science Isn't Settled What we are up against, and what to do. The questions are: 1) Are all the hysterical, catastrpohic pictures being painted plausible; 2) Does CO2 drive the climate in any significant way, and; 3) Can man control the climate?A rational answer to all three is clearly "No".
