My patterns are a bit off.I like having some quiet time and during the day I don't get this so I usually stay up pretty late when the others are asleep. And then I always slept til 5 PM and stayed up til 6 or 7 AM.That's no problem when I have holidays but now where I have to get up early again in the morning I can't sleep at night and when I have to get up is the time where I'd actually go to bed!And now recently I had to stay up 24 hours cause I couldn't sleep and now it's really weird cause yesterday I slept 7 hours, then I was awake only a few hours, went to bed again slept 10 hours and then got up and I am still totally tired! I wonder how is that possible? I slept 10 hours and still feel totally weird.I don't think this is healthy but what shall I do? I am a night person and I like the peace at night and I also usually study at night.

Sleeping patterns...

Quote:I am a night person and I like the peace at night and I also usually study at night. That's what I do. And it isn't healthy for a person, it will mess up the sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythm). Follow a sleep routine that is good for you. Having sleep disorders is really bothersome, affects our performance and life a lot. Sometimes it will also increase depression etc. Before it get bad try to quit staying up late and stick to proper sleep routine. My sleep pattern these days is sleep=6-14 hrs....awake=20-40hrs. I don't take any naps cuz napping=annoying. I can't get myself to sleep on time or wake up on time!!

How can you stay awake 40 hours? I already found staying awake 24+ hours hard but it's also a difference if you're at home and watching TV and then stay up late or if you're out there and have to stay awake this is really a torture.

LOL. I can stay up for a long time without trouble and even do a lot of work. =/ I even worked on building my dog house from scratch when staying up for 30+ hours. I don't have trouble paying attention to stuff or make mistakes when I am up.
BTW When I get sleepy I get violent, if you say anything when I am sleepy, I will punch. Same goes for waking up, no one ever dares to wake me cuz I hate anyone disturbing my sleep, of course I do punch if you try to wake me.
Sleep is important to me cuz I sleep after being awake for a long time anyone disturbing my sleep really pisses me off.
PS: My pet cats, Tomas and Rocky were an exception and obviously the only "alarm clocks" that woke me up without me making a fuss. (-_-) they used to nibble on my nose or ear, stand on my face and pat their paws or jump down on my tummy from top of the shelf, chew my hair and pull, lie down next to me and start scratching me with their claws...every morning at 10:00 am exactly. If I didnt wake up, I was in for some more! I couldn't hurt them as I loved them a lot. I always woke up with a smile and used to pet my cats a lot, sometimes even play tag as soon as I was up. It was fun.

lol, I'd have liked to see that cat scene. Sounds like straight out of a movie.
I can't stay up long and do work where I need to concentrate. It's much easier to stay up long and watch TV but doing work is much harder.
Or what also sucks is when you're totally tired but at the same time can't fall asleep. Or sometimes when I drink a little too much wine before sleeping then I wake up after a few hours and my heart's racing and I feel like crap. -
I wish you could have seen the cat scene. It was very hilarious and cute. Cats are really playful and lovable. Right now I have a dog, golden retriever. She (-_-) um...has the habit of jumping over me and making me fall flat on floor and sitting on top of me and says "woof"! That's her most favorite thing. We both argue a lot. Even at 2-4:00am when everyone is sleeping, my mom usually breaks our fights and locks us in different rooms until morning. we often get grounded. Last fight was about some cookies. Back to the topic, everybody is different and not all can concentrate when staying up for too long. Sleep can be affected by 1. your environment (light, temperature and noise) and 2. what you ate before sleeping.Try to google about it, you will find more details. I ate a lot of cheese, 10 minutes later I slept and had a freaking nightmare; it happened only once though. There are foods that affect your sleep so find out about them and don't eat them right before sleeping. There are many other things you can find out if you search the net. Don't stay up and watch TV. It's not good for you.
