Apparently my friends mom is threating to put a restraining order on me. So correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they required to uh, have SOMETHING to go by other than they just don't like me?This girls mom decided all of a sudden, I'm stalking her because I was in a church and I stared at her over the balcony (trying to get her attention so she'd come say hi, since we are friends.)And apparently, her mom's boyfriend, felt uncomfortable, and they both somehow decided I'm stalking the girl. Which I think comes down too, they just don't like me.So I don't see how they can slap a restraining order on me, don't they have to have a actual reason, with some sort of proof?

Restraining Order?

They have to have a reason, but the burden of proof is extremely low, and the misuse of restraining orders has become a scandal. Most often restraining orders are effectively given on application, and the matter is not looked into seriously until the person against whom they are made applies to have them lifted, which takes time and money.
Hopefully it is just talk.
