So, disclaimer, this could be a stupid question, but oh well. I'm just gonna list info because I'm not sure what's important to my question. My girlfriend and I have been together for over 2 years now, minus a couple short breakups. We're both in college now, at the same school, and recently she brought up a concern to me that she's rarely "in the mood" recently. She told me she's still attracted to me, and she wants to have sex, but she just can't get her body into it (or something along those lines, might not be an exact quote). She's worried that whatever is going on is going to mess up our relationship. Now, I don't want it to come to that, I love her, and I'd stay in this relationship without having sex at all. And in these past two years she has had times where her sex drive was lower and higher, it just never has been this low, and it's worrying her. I'm not an expert on biology, but I'd think this fluctuation is normal, especially given then new environment and stresses and whatever. Also, I'm curious if alcohol could play into this at all. Not that she's drinking excessively, but once or twice a week for like the first month we were on campus. I don't think it's extreme, but alcohol is a depressant, and coming from highschool where she only drank every couple of months I could believe that it had something to do with it. I could be wrong though, just speculating. So, those are my thoughts, I'm just looking for someone more knowledgeable to tell me if I'm on the right track, or if I need to be looking for problems in our relationship or something more serious than just waiting it out. Thanks in advance.-side note: since I've been coming to this site for like 4 years now with problems, and never given back, I'm off to try and find something I know something about to try and help someone else. Thanks so much!

Fluctuating Sex Drive?
-
I doubt it's the alcohol - alcohol tends to increase testosterone in women and therefore increase sex drive. It could well be stress from the new environment. For many people school is an environment they have grown comfortable with, and the greater freedom of college can be a bit frightening.

I've got another question then, would alcohol increase sex drive only when she's been drinking? Or would that increase last past intoxication?
-
I think it's only while the alcohol is in the bloodstream.
