About 2 years ago I went on the depo injection but things didn't work out. I didn't like it and it didn't like me. One of the side effects I got was galactorrhoea. The doctor did a blood test to make sure there was nothing sinister that would be triggering it and the results came back negative for prolactin, thus it was concluded that the injection was solely to blame. After that, I went back on the pill until a few months ago. I am now off any kind of hormone treatment because of the ridiculous amount of side effects.
However, it's now two and a bit years since the injection and I'm still lactating. And if anything, coming off the pill has actually made it a bit worse. I'm aware depo stays in your system for a long time but two years?? Is it time for another blood test?

From the physician information:Following a single 150 mg IM dose of DEPO-PROVERA Contraceptive Injection, medroxyprogesterone acetate concentrations, measured by an extracted radioimmunoassay procedure, increase for approximately 3 weeks to reach peak plasma concentrations of 1 to 7 ng/mL. The levels then decrease exponentially until they become undetectable (Over two years seems very long.
