The Winning Rapist

Why shouldn't he? When he bought that ticket he had the same chances just like everyone else to win the lottery. He just got lucky and won. You asked us what we thought about this article, but what do you think Craig? I got the impression from the way you said that last sentence that you wouldn't want him to keep it and so would a lot of other people.

he won it fair and square.. but it just doesnt seem fair that he can get to enjoy his riches after commiting so many crimes. but from what i believe, its karma..he deserved the money..maybe he did something good in his previous life?

In reply to: maybe he did something good in his previous life? I’m still under the opinion that I must have had everything I could ever want in another life

I can understand why so many people are pissed off with this, but he has just as much right as everyone else who does the lotto to win the cash

Some people consider that all gambling is immoral because the hope for profit depends on others' losses, and I find that a strong argument - it does give me a bad feeling about it.However, I hate it when people consider a convicted felon - or anyone else - to be not as human, not worth as much, as anyone else. I don't believe anyone has the right to feel he or she is a better person than anyone else, and that includes rapists.

Hi Aisy!! I hope you're OK. What do I think?! This isn't an easy question to answer. I don't like the idea [any more than most people] of a rapist winning lots of money - but I also don't like the idea of a government deciding what to do with YOUR money. That rapist won the money - just like anyone else could have. His chances of winning were no greater than anyone else's. His numbers just came up. The law does not forbid a prisoner from playing a lottery OR from winning a lottery. What has to happen - is a change in the law that forbids a prisoner to partake in gambling. [which would cover all types of 'games of chance' - including lotteries] But you can't make a law TODAY - and have it effect someone for what they DID or for what happened TO them - YESTERDAY. Still.... I do believe [this particular lottery winning aside] that ALL criminals should be financially responsible for their crimes. A little while back - a group of moron teenagers decided to have some late night 'fun'. They roamed through an old grave yard and destroyed dozens of 100+ year old tomb stones. They were charged with property damage but not once was there ANY mention of THEM paying out of their OWN pockets to have the tomb stones repaired. I think that's nuts. Why should tax payers always have to pay for other people's crimes?! None of this - however - would effect that rich rapist. So everyone is just going to have to forget about it and do what can be done to change the laws so future incidents like this CAN be dealt with - LEGALLY.GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!

Hey Craig,Everything is just fine and dandy here. I agree with you about making a law that would prevent a criminal in jail from gambling and having the chance to win. When you commit a crime and go to prison the whole point is that you are denied certain privilges, including gambling.-Ais

i dont think any rapist should ever be let out of jail. if that were the case, his money would be irrelivant.
