A couple of days ago I lost my virginity to my boyfriend of almost one year. (Btw I'm 15, I'm also concerned if I'm too young to be having sex.) anyway, I'm not sure if I should tell my mom. Me and my mom are close and she loves my boyfriend also. She just doesn't know we're having sex. A couple months ago she told me that if she found out we were having sex, she would tell his parents because it's the right thing to do. His parents are very strict, I don't know how they would take it. I also heard from my doctor that you have to be a virgin to get the HPV shot. I would need to get it since cervical cancer runs in my family. But, I feel like I should tell her because she is my mom and also the whole HPV injection thing, but I know it's not really her business plus it would be the worst for her to call his parents. I feel like if I tell her, she won't ever let me and my boyfriend be alone again. What do I do?

Hey Lost It,
Welcome to the forums and thanks for your question.
From what I got, it seems to me that you're concerned about not being a virgin and getting the Gardasil (HPV vaccine) shot.
You don't have to be a virgin to get the shot. It's preferred for young women to be virgins because it minimizes the chances that you're exposed to HPV already (it's quite common and guys usually don't show any symptoms).
However when you see your doctor, you should definitely make him/her aware that you are sexually active. Your mom doesn't have to be in the room for that conversation. In terms of telling your mom about you having sex, the choice is completely up to you. I know this is probably what you didn't want to hear and you'd rather have somebody make the decision for you.
It sounds like you do really want to tell your mom about it but you're afraid of the potential consequences (your mom telling your boyfriend and then you two not being able to see each other). I think that you should address your fears regarding the consequences with your mom first and see what she says.
Hope this helps.

@DrJ thank you so much! This helped a lot but I think I'm going to wait a little before telling her
