times have changed in the business world. a friend of mine is looking for work and is in his late 40's. What web sites should he post his resume to? Do people still post their resume's to Monster.com???

Looking for work
-
In my field, just posting your resumé is pretty much useless. No employer in my area bothers looking for employees by doing the work searching for them on a web site: they advertise a position and the people come to them with resumés and covering letters carefully addressing all the selection criteria. It might be different in some other areas; perhaps where it is hard to find people with the right qualifications.
It would also be different when it's a matter of an agency that does a full selection process. Some employers do use them, especially if they need someone temporary in a hurry.

I should add, I imagine it's worth making a LinkedIn account if he doesn't already have one.

@Ineligible I agree with the LinkedIn account. When I was still working, it seemed that most positions were filled by networking--who you know rather than what you know.
Unfortunately, because of the economy (although it's improving), there aren't as many jobs out there and it pays to have others looking out for you. Employers now get so many more applicants for a jog than they used to, it almost seems like an impossible situation. I'm still a believer, though, that when you find an opening you're interested in, the position will probably go to whoever demonstrates he/she wants it most. Be diligent about letting the employer know that you want the position. Don't assume that your application will somehow magically rise to the top.

@davidwilbertusa Welcome to A2A and thanks for the good advise. Its tough finding employment these days as it's a more digital world now. Old school tactics and such don't really apply these days.
-
Simply creating resume is at all enough. You need to have an effective social media presence by creating your attractive page on Facebook , Creating account on professional networking platforms like LinkedIn and many such websites. These days most of the companies prefer to check employees social media accounts before hiring them .

This would probably be a good place to remind people to be careful what they post on social media. It is true that employers are now mining social media sites to get a profile of a prospective employee before making a job offer.

@readytogo so true. Iv'e known co-workers that were fired for things on their Facebook or Instagram page. Times have changed. Employees represent their company 24/7.

If you are a graduate and searching a job [sorry, this is not a place to advertise your website - Ineligible]
