As an artist I think it is.

Do you think that political correctness is running our lives too much?
-
@manoflive I personally believe that the world as a whole, or at least in the united States has become too damn politically correct. It really complicates things!
-
@Roc More then you can imagine. It has greatly affected my artistic thinking. I worry about creating something that someone is going to think that that is not cool to create. We need to get back to thinking for our selves, working hard and not be dictated in everything we do.

My feeling is that what is called 'political correctness' is born of good manners. We ought to try to avoid offending and upsetting people unnecessarily. However some people take this too far, and put avoiding offense above everything. It's a matter of judgement where the line should be drawn, but I think those who say there should be no political correctness (which often means they want to be as unpleasant as they like), and those who consider political incorrectness to be the worst sin, are both wrong.

@Ineligible Two wrongs do not make a right and no thinking skills are the issue these days. I think for myself but also keep to my self because there seems to be no answer to this issue anymore.
-
I agree that whatever you do you can be criticised for it, but I think it was ever thus: e.g. http://www.aesopfables.com/cgi/aesop1.cgi?sel&TheMantheBoyandtheDonkey

@Ineligible Sometimes also as I have seen an increase of this behavior is jealousy because as one maybe better at doing something or having something better then another. In my case I was born with artistic skills that may be better skills I have then another but again someone else is better at something else then me. As like the story you link me to it is true that no way you can please all no matter what. To please one and taking sides is not easy. I at times just pull back and let them figure it out. Sometimes it is very tough being netral

I've often said, there are 2 types of people who sound foolish when they discuss "political correctness":
Those who extol it and those who decry it.
