So, I finally quit pot, and my life is starting to look up for the first time.Let me start with a little history. I started smoking (marijuana) 4 days before I turned 18, and I thought it was just the greatest thing in the world, once my lungs got used to the burning sensation. My friends and I had a great time smoking about once a week for the rest of the school year and through that summer. So far, harmless as can be. When I started college, we all started drinking a little bit, along with the smoking, and we started smoking more and more, until about a month into college we were smoking quite a bit every night. Anyway, this kept happening until the next march or so, and I started having my doubts about all the "fun" of pot.The munchies were killing me, I'd always eat a ton whenever I smoked. I know some people can will themselves not to eat so much, but I just lost control over my stomach, and when you're high you never get full.It wasn't affecting me too heavily in school, except for the occasional missed homeowrk in math (which is the reason I got a B in that class), and my unheard of D (first ever!) in Economics (which really sucked, especially now that I'm taking that class over). But what was really aggravating me was that getting high wasn't all that it used to be. I started getting very quiet and introverted while stoned, and it was lacking all of the fun that it started as. Also, I have asthma, and I always felt like I had to clear my throat. I really felt like the weed was hurting my lungs. Another thing bothering me was that I've always been overwheight (by about 20 pounds or so) and the munchies seemed unconquerable without quitting pot. The time came for me to give it up.Alright, so I started trying to quit around March and wasn't successful until mid-May (it took my brother around 4 months to quit), but the temptation is ever present, since my friends are still going strong, smoking every night. After I quit I really started exercising, and over the 3 months of summer I lost that 20 lbs). My throat has cleared up, I've got great plans in college, I'm a few months away from black belt in Shao-lin Kung Fu, I've got TONS of extra cash (considering I was spending about $50/week on ganja), and I feel great. I will admit that pot was fun, but when the negatives start outweighing the positives, it's time to quit, and so I did...after awhile.I will admit however that I've since had a relapse. When I moved back into college for my second year, I smoked a few nights, partly out of peer pressure and partly out of curiosity. Surely enough I woke up the next few days with a congested throat, and that just irked me a bit. But I'm through now. Done and done.Anyways, anyone else wanna share opinions about quitting smoking or otherwise? Thanks for reading!

Why did you repeat the class if you got a D?
-
In reply to:

Because colleges don't accept D's and they are considered not passing.
-
Yeah, the College of Arts and Sciences at my University allows you to do this thing called Course Forgiveness, where the D stays on the transcript, but is replaced in the GPA if you take it again.

In reply to:Because colleges don't accept D's and they are considered not passing.Oh, didn't know that. Another reason not to go to college.
-
There's never a good reason not to go to college. It's a wonderful thing that everyone needs to experience.
-
I'm not going to college. Screw spending the money. There just going to send the jobs out of country.
-
You couldn't get into college anyway!
-
Nice personal attack jackass. Yes I could goto college, I choose not to. Why don't you stop bothering this bored with your worthless comments
-
I would like to know whice colleae will accept a 1.1 when they don't accept D's?
-
If you get a D WHILE IN college some colleges don't accept it. That doesn't mean you can't get into college with a D. Colleges look at a whole lot more than your GPA.
-
Good schools don't accept D's and yes they look at Sat or Act scores, community service, extra curricular activities and other such stuff.

Congrats on quitting! I knoow how hard it can be!Youve made such a huge step in the right direction!!Im really really proud of you!Once the smoke clears you can actually see having fun without it.It can happen and you are proof!! Way to go!!
-
Everyone may need to, but we don't all have the chance too or some of us don't want too
-
True you may not want to, but everyone has the chance to no matter what.
-
I just dont want to spend the money on it. I dont want those extra bills. I think a police type job, or physical labor is a good thing to get into. Its going to be here forever. You can't have a street in the US paved in Pakistan.

Congrats on quitting!! Smoking weed just isn't right for some people (I see them all the time). It takes priority (Which is REALLY REALLY bad). Some of my smoking buddys can't see how I can't spend every single dime I earn on weed. or how I can't stay high all the time, even when I have it. Or how something else will take priority and won't smoke for awhile. But, I've also been really good at controlling myself throughout my life. Once again, congrats and good luck on the rest of your college years!

What about the people who get the worst grades and don't have any money and financial support to pay for college?
-
Anyone can apply for financial aid and student loans, even with the lowest grades you can still always attend a community college to start off with
