When your depressed and not taking any meds is it normal to feel "more stupid" then you usually feel. What i mean is that I always forget short term conversations and little things I say or people say to me. I dont feel down 2 earth waht so ever either. People look at me and they say I look really tired all the time. I feel really slow and strange right now. Is this a normal symptom of depression? Or am I just seriously fucked. Thanks for reding

Question about depression
-
Same shit happens to me and I don't take any meds.
-
Yeah it sucks really abd huh? If its not to much trouble do u think u could describe the way u feel in ur words?
Thanks
-
I'm not good at putting what I feel into words but I'll give it a shot.
I am very forgetful (don't know if that has to do with depression or not) and forget things sometimes seconds after they occured. (i.e. when looking at something at this website, say a time or a nickname, then switching to another window and trying to write that thing down, I can't remember what it was anymore so I copy paste whatever it is) I don't know if I look tired or not, but I'm usually pretty slow, as in I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere or do anything anytime soon. If someone comes running at me I usually won't move simply because it's too much work to move and I don't feel like moving that fast at that time.
I guess to sum it all up and making it short, I'm just lifeless. Nothing interests me and I don't care about anything or anyone.

thanks for your descirption, If there is anyone else out there that feels my pain, please post what you would describe it as.thank you

Hey anony, hope things are going okay for you, bud.
I suffer clinical depression and I'm not on medication. Meds aren't always the solution. I've learned alot about the symptoms of it when not being treated. The ones you described are pretty typical. Some more include hopelessness feeling, thoughts of suicide, lack of trust towards people, change in eating and sleeping pattern, short term memory, feeling of worthlessness, restlessness, loss in pleasure of normal activities, fatigue etc.
Have you been diagnosed? If not, maybe you should see a doctor and get it checked out. Its the best thing to do.
-
hmm i have a lot of those symptoms you said. How would i go about talking to my mom about going to the doctor? no wait better yet do you have to be 18 to see a doctor with out a parent? Cuase my mom isnt talking to me and the only time im aloud to leave the house house now is for school and work.

Personally I think I'm thick as shit and treat myself like that, although people are always telling me other wise.
I do take med's for depression, I was diagnosed with dysthymia last year, and will soon be having another psychological evaluation due to my current med's change (which has knocked me back to the same as I was last year).
Short term memory is crap, unless it is something about someone important to me or something that I really need to remember, but other things are gone within minutes of being told or read. Although my memory has been a lot worse while I've been on med's.

yeah does anyone else with depression feel like theyre bodys just going through the day and you dont really think about anything your doing. Its almost like I cant think at all sometimes. Thanks for reading
