Ok heres the deal. I need to know which system is the best,or one that you prefer and why.We are living in the dark ages over here.LoL we have a PS1. And my daughter is getting old enough (6) and wants a PS2,or Game Cube, or possibly an X box. From what ive seen , it seems the X box is geard more for the older group. But im not sure. And it seems the PS2 is most popular. Is there a reason why? Is it that much better than the Game Cube? Which game system would be the easiest for a 6 year old, (who is very good at the PS1 ,she has 85 % of Spyro,Year of the Dragon, completed!)Ive heard the X box controllers are more complex. Is that true? For myself and my husband i think we would prefer the x box, but im not sure if that system would be the right choice for a 6 year old.Any help/advice guys? Please?

ATTN All Video Gamers. I need advice!

Well it all depends. Do you have a DVD player? the reason i asked is because, both systems can play DVD's but the ps2 is more user friendly and the xbox needs some extra parts before you can play DVD's. If you do have a DVD player, then A: look for the one that is least expensive B: ask her which one should like, although the Xbox controller looks a little more complex, it's complexity is not that much more then the PS2 or even the gamecube. sorry thats all i can think of, but remember, the games of all the systems will run around 50 dollars. so take that into careful consideration

Hey thanks!
Yes we do have a DVD player. So my choice isnt depending on that, but does the Game cube play DVD's?It seems the Game Cube is the least expensive.
Thats why i was wondering if it wasnt as good. But i guess the Ps2 is more expensive due to more features, like being able to play PS1 games ect..But that doesnt really matter to me either because we are keeping the PS1 in the other room.i i guess i was trying to figure out if it was worth spending 50 more dollars for the PS2 or X Box,
Any particular ones have better games, or are they all pretty much the same?anyways..
thanks for your help.

X BOX .... damn i luv those colors

umm, in regards to the games, so many games today are put out and are made for all platforms. only a few games have been made exclusively for the individual platforms. For example, Gamecube has the mario games, and Xbox has the halo, but i'm not sure what game is exclusive to Ps2, thus showing even more versatility. My vote is for PS2, just because it is a sony based company and i have always liked sony. I'm not saying that Nintento and Microsoft are any worse then Ps2, i'm just a sony kind of guy.

if your daughter is only 6 years old, she would would probably have a problem with the xbox's huge, bulky controller, gamecube controllers are pretty comfortable and simple, but if she's already used to a ps1 controller she would have no problem with a ps2.

If it were my 6 year old I'd have to go with the gamecube on this one. It seems more suitable for a 6 year old on both the hardware and software points of view.Xbox does have a bigger controller and it seems that microsoft's mainstream of games is first person shooters, war games, and hack and slash.PS2 is versatile with it's 3rd party games, though everything I've seen get really really popular was games like Grand Theft Auto.It seems Gamecube would suit your daughter fine considering she plays spyro. It's colorful, it's simple, it's fun. This is what Mario games have been built on. I thought it would be too complex, but my neice and nephew are crazy about Mario Sunshine and are surprisingly really really good at it. She may aslo like Zelda: The Wind Waker if she likes to solve riddles and things. As for myself, I'm a big fan of Halo, Beyond Good and Evil, Zelda games, Mario games, Metroid games, Tactical games, and Final Fantasy like Role playing games.

Thanks guys! Im still not sure which way to go. But i think im leaning more towards The game cube just for the fact that i like the mario games. And i think she would too. And isnt there supposed to be a PS3 coming out next year or something? So i may go the cheaper route this time and then go for the PS 3 sometime down the road.Anyways, thanks guys. Appreciate your help.

I think the GameCube makes alot of sense. There are tons of fun games made by Nintendo that don't involve all the mind-numbing violence that you get with, for instance, the Xbox. It appears to me that Nintendo, through the GameCube and the GameBoy line, seems to be targeting a slightly younger demographic, so their games are more appropriate for that demographic.

i played the X box a few nights ago for the first time.. and i couldnt understand it.. my friends little brother had to help me

Well hangon I have a PS2 and it is the best system (played all three). But see this is where the problem lies what genre the child is interested in, but for a six year old go with Gamecube because of all the fun mario racing games and what not as gamecube does have some other decent games.

Thanks. I think i have decided on the GameCube. After advice here and looking at some games, it does seem that the GameCube has more games suitable for a 6 year old. From what i saw anyways, PS2 seemed to have tons of fighting, blood and gore type games and just a few kid games. Sheez when i was 6 years old, i had Atari. Pac-man and Pole Position woohoo.lol does that mean im old?
