Hello!! I have heard that it is ok to continue to take the pill (i'm on tri-cyclen), skipping the placebo pills, in order to skip your period for a month. Is this correct?? If yes, what happens the next month that you take the pills correctly? Is your perid heavier?? Any info would be greatly appreicated!!

Skipping period..??
-
Yes you can do that. It won't hurt you, but you really shouldn't get in the habit of doing that. The following month your period will be normal. It won't be heavier or last longer.

Thanks for the response! I tried it...skipped the placebo pills and started a new pack. BUT...now i'm in the second week of pills (#8-14), and i have my period!! WHY? What happened?? Thanks!!!!!

Well I wouldn't freak about it. Sometimes your hormones don't like to be messed with.

i'm doing the skipping placebos thing so i only have my period 3 times a year. for the first two months it was great but now im having some breakthrough bleeding. its possible if you have been on it for a while that your body is still used to you having your period while on the pill so it needs some time to readjust to not having it.

Why are you doing it so that you only have it three times a year? It's not something that should be done on a regular or long term basis.
-
because theres no reason to have it all the time, my doctor prescribed it this way, its fine.

If you doctor said so then ok, but yes there is a reason to have your period each month. The pill isn't designed to take continously to prevent a period. If you want that maybe you should look into the shot.

i was thinking about that, also.
