I have been told I have trich. I have been married for 8 years and I am sure my husband has not cheated and I know I haven't. He is not circumcised and I have heard that the trich can begin there. Anyone know if this is true?

Trichomonas is caused by a single-celled protozoan parasite, which is why it isn't treated with standard antibiotics. Although the disease is common, the parasite is not common outside of a host. In other words, you can't just pick it up from bad hygiene; it's an STI in the truest sense (requiring sexual contact). Are you sure you actually have it? Have you been tested? It's hard to tell the difference between trich and less insidious infections without lab work.By the way, you really should be talking to your doctor about this. A forum is of very limited utility for these questions, and it would be tragic if you jumped to any false conclusions based on the advice of random strangers.

Thanks for the reply. I am very aware of the fact that forums are just advice from strangers. I was looking for advice from someone who was maybe in my situation. I have been to the Dr. and am sure I have trich. I was just hoping to get info about other ways to get it besides sex.

Huh... well, I don't think it can be caused by anything but sex. Perhaps there is someone else wandering around the forum who can confirm that.

As far as I know you can only get it from sex.

What are the symptoms of Trichomonas and how can it be identified?
-
Sometimes there are no symptoms. Most people get some sort of discharge, itchiness, odor, discomfort, etc. I think you need a swab + lab work to identify it.

Stop by your local marriage counselor's office on your way out. Hopefully one with a polygraph.

only through sex i'm afraid. trich info

by the way your husband will need to be treated too, or you'll get it again. i think flagyl is the drug used.
