hi, i am a 16 year old male and around 5'6, and while i do not know my exact body weight, it's always been at least 15 pounds less than everyone else, generally because i do have a smaller body frame. i was always the short kid but now it seems i am finally starting to grow much taller. i believe i am about half way through puberty as i have hair around my body and armpits but don't shave regularly and no chest hair.i have always had an extremely light skin color, and even though i live in florida, i never go to the beach (honestly, never).in the past few years, some people have mentioned that i am very pale, and that i just "need to get some sun" however i burn very easily and never take their advice seriously.i'm beginning to think that i appear somewhat sickly to others, especially with those frequent and nasty zits and red blotches here and there (which really stand out on pale skin)i realize the importance of a healthy diet and good sleep, and i love healthy foods such as spinach leafy lettuce and whole grain breads and other healthy foods. i am not annorexic because i eat everything and anything, beef and chicken and bread and pasta all day long.for high school i have to get up around 6am and at that time i am not too hungry but i always force myself to eat cereal or a yogurt and some fruit because i know i need to. i pack a lunch but sometimes i just eat half the sandwich as i am not that hungry. i always eat dinner, but it is generally very late because my parents don't get home until very late, and often it's not a 'huge' dinner either.i am in good physical shape because i walk a lot through the day and often play tennis or something.sometimes i feel a bit dizzy between meals (even though i snack a ton throughout the day) and i worry that i'm not as healthy as i would like to be. i never work out so i don't have super big muscles and that's why i still look a little bony with clothes on.is there anything i can do differently? should i be working out? should i be eating different foods more? i just don't feel as 'beefy' as i should.thanks for all and any advice!
Well first off tanning is actually more bad for you than it is good, and "pale" people are far less likely to get skin cancer than the people who tan on a regular basis. That being said, I believe everyone should have a "mild" tan. Another words if you cant stay outside for an hour without gettin sunburned then you need to tan a lil bit. Most people prefer people to have some tan anyway, so I would suggest you try to get a lil sun here & there. Maybe start laying in the tannin bed. Start slow & work your way up. Myabe like 5 mins the first week, 10 minutes the next 2, 15 minutes the next 3 weeks, and then finally up to the full 20 minute sessions. Once you get fairly tan you could stop tannin, but still stay in the sun every now & then to keep a decent tone to your body. OR if you'd rather now risk the burns of tannin they make spray-on tanners.From what you explained to me you have a very high metabolism w/ an ectomorph's body type. This means you are going to have a very hard time gaining weight. You need to cut down on the running & other cardio & focus your physical activity on weight training. Eat at least a gram of protein per pound of body weight & try to eat at least 4 good meals a day, preferably 6. If you cant eat much at a sitting, definately 6. Try to push yourself every meal though & eat as much as you can. Dont make yourself sick, but if you continue to eat like this you will stretch out your stomach.Feeling dizzy could mean a lot of things but I would geuss you're feeling that way becuase you have a lack of nutrients throughout the day. You're burning more cals than your taking in hence the reason you're stayin so small & sickly.Hit the weights, stop the cardio, eat A LOT, buy some protein powder & creatine, drink a TON of water throughout the day, and get bigger.
