Tonight.. Decieded i needed to start working out.. Going to do it M-W-F only.. so i dont get burnt out.. Well hope on it tonight ( Friday ) and at about half a mile.. I was all dizzy.. breathing hard.. I usually only feel this at 4 + miles... Please tell me this is just cause i havn't done it in a while.... Would it be ok to do half a mile everday ( change my orginal plan ) at 8.5 - 9.0 MPH. It took me about 3:30 minutes tonight to get my half mile at like 8 MPH. Is this ok? I need to get into shape.. LUCKLY! I havn't given up on my diet and everything.. Just been lazy.. Well now i think i have something to do it for.. Girl Y... I want to get into really good shape for her.. and ask her around the end of the school year.. So i want to drop atleast 20 pounds. Will half a mile a day at 8.5 - 9.0 mph. and a 1500-2000 calorie diet work to do this all in like 3 months? Or should i stick closer to 1500 calories.. and a mile a day? Thanks.. Im just still happy i havn't lost site of my diet plans

Actually, running and such doesn't help you lose that much calories. It does help out your circulatory system and in time boost your metabolism, so I think half a mile a day would be good. I think a weight lifting workout is what you really need though. If you do this, pay attention to your bodies form and appearance rather than weight. Muscle is heavier than fat. I never did run all that much, but I did agilities and such when I was a football player. I was a lineman at the time. Ummmm, I just kinda put random things down. I'm not sure how many calories just being awake in a day burns, but it's quite a bit. whatever it is, you're making progress as long as you have a calorie deficit at the end of the day.

As far as losing fat and gaining muscle fast, weight training is the best thing you can do. Sure, running puts you in really great shape as far as circulatory and respiratory wise, but it won't help that much when trying to lose fat under time constraints. Actually, if you want to get into some really deep end medical stuff, new research says that running is rough on the organs inside the body. I have no objections to swimming though. It's probably one of the best things you can do.

running a really good way of losing. i do 20 minutes on the treadmill changing speed every few minutes, i lose up to 150 cals a time. cycling also good and so is the rowing machine thingy. take it slow to begin with and build up, and go at diff speeds, do a bit of walking, then running, then walking. take it nice and easy, killing yourself over it not good, it better to be slow and benefit than go fast and lose it after a few minutes.

Eh, ok. Well, running can be good I guess. My friend used to run with a trash bag over him under his sweater. He's a wrestler so he has to cut weight often. He can't keep the weight off very good though, just temporarily.I like the idea of having a little bit of bulk to my body. Not too much though. Bruce Lee had an awesome body. I want to get close to what he had.

I really don't want to be the one to say it, but unforgetto is actually right about running being a good way to lose weight (though it doesn't do a whole lot for muscle). You burn calories by running and stuff and calories are what you need to burn to lose weight. If you burn more calories than you consume you will lose weight.

*nodding* yeah, i guess running can be good. I don't prefer it. lol.

If I ran from my living room to my kitchen Id be blue around the lips, so youre just outta shape like me.

Heheh. I have to admit I chuckled on that one. There is a flaw in men and women. Women think with their heart, Men think with their dicks. If I had to choose between the two, thinking with the heart is more honorable.
