my boyfriend and i have been together for 9 1/2 months and have known eachother for a little over a year. hes 22 and im 17. well anyway, i'll hint towards him that i want to hear i love you, by saying 'oh i LOVE the way you kiss' or 'i LOVE the way you touch me" etc. and he'll say the same kind of stuff but never those 3 words at once. he treats me like a queen and he sure as heck acts like he loves me and we know everything about eachother and are extremely close to one another but do you think he is just scared to love me? hes said it to other girls before and they fucked him over..could that be a factor? and i know that there is a possibility that maybe he doesnt love me..but i dont wanna ask him, because personally, i think thats kinda rude and obnoxious, plus i dont wanna hear him say he doesnt love me..help me think of what it could be

Why wont he say it?

maybe he needs more time, or doesn't know you love him?? you told him? maybe he scared he might scare you off, or maybe he just thinks you know and doesn't need to say. don't ask him, just give him time

It sounds like he's fallen in love in the past and had his heart broken a few times. By him saying, "I love you" means that he's making himself vulnerable again. Give him some time and he'll come around. A dog that is beaten with a newspaper is scared of a newspaper for a long time until someone trains it not to be afraid anymore. You can "train" your boyfriend by being there and letting him know you won't leave him. Be patient and he'll come around.

He'll say it when he's ready. A lot of guys are like that.

Saying "i love you" is a HUGE deal. Sometimes you can date for 5 years and not even here it. Its something you have to be sure of and it comes with a lot of bagage as well. This person may love you to death but to say it is very difficult. ITs something you never want to have to take back because that is the worse thing you could possibily do to someone in my opinion.

Heheh. Maybe that's why my ex and I made up the "I love you" "I'm in love with you" rule. If someone says, I love you, they can mean it as a friend. If someone says, I'm in love with you, well, then there's some connections goin' on there.
