Okay. I've started working out again on a regular basis. I've been walking a mile everyday for about a week, except yesterday. I decieded to go big. I went for a walk in the local hills. I walked for about 3 hours in the hills with just little breaks and one big break. I have two drives to do this. A. Im seriously considering the Marines. B. I love getting high in quite, peaceful places. I dont know how far I walked, but Im figuring its atleast 8 miles. To my question, today I'm soar. I was thinking about walking 5 miles in the treadmill. Would that be wise? Should I just do like 2 miles? I don't want to hurt myself. Thanks

Dude you wanna try joggin instead, i walk around 8 miles a day just going college and stuff, its around 2 miles to my college, and i go home during lengthy gaps then walk back and then walk back home again, this doesnt include idle dawdling, but what im trying to say is, walking doesn't really tire some one out or provide much of a stanima increase or what ever unless you do it vigorously, u should try and making walking or jogging part of everyday life rather than setting out on a mish to jog or walk and the 2 mile or 5 mile walk on treadmill is up to you. At the end of the day its determination

walkin up steep hills & over rugged terrain sometimes causes the same amount of energy as joggin the same distance would. Sometimes the terrain is too rugged to run or jog, and takes an extra effort just to get up it.Back to your question, just get on a cardio bike on a low setting & peddle for about 30 minutes to "work the soreness out". I wouldnt suggest climbing/joggin again.

I run alot, and quite far. If you're getting soreness it could be from not having proper footwear. I suggest a good pair of durable cross country runners, check with a person at a store that specializes in running for the right type of shoe. I payed more than I would for a normal pair of shoes for my runners, but they're worth it and the help I got from the guy working at "The Running Room" (don't know if you have one where you are, but it's an awesome place for anything running related) was great since I got a pair that worked well with me. For example, I'm quite flat footed so he picked shoes that provided support for that.I know that I needed them, I got real bad shin splints when I first started running this spring. I kind of went from 0 days a week running to a training season for track where I was running 2-4 days a week and doing long, fast-paced runs. If the soreness is in the upper area of your leg, then it's probably just from sore muscles. It's good to be pushing yourself, but if you feel that it's from a damaged tendon or muscle then you should take it easy for a couple days upwards to a month or two, but I doubt it's that serious if you are getting anything along those lines from the activity that you're doing.
