k - i would be SO grateful if someone could recomend a workout that shows results with in a few weeks. i've tried several things.. the firm and those 'eight minute' workouts, but my problem right now is that i'm too out of shape to keep up with them. i'm 'carrying' around my ex's deployment, an abusive marriage, and bad divorce and want to get rid of it. i'm at 215 lbs and five foot three. my goal is to loose a total of 60 lbs at least.. and would like to be a few sizes smaller by valentines if possible. i'm working on my diet and portion control - but i have a BAD sweet tooth.. any help with exercises would be great. with little or no equipment.

Running, it works. If running is a problem due to being out of shape, then try using an eliptical. This is much easier on the shins than running is. And make sure that you do push yourself.
You're not going to see incredibly fast results unless you push yourself in doing the cardio. Do long, hard, fast-paced workouts (of whatever you choose to do, whatever you enjoy best is your best choice). If you find yourself saying that you can't do it, then you need something to work towards or a general shift in attitude. Whenever you start to think things like that, don't. Imagine someone's peering into your thoughts every time you think something negative, and correct those thoughts with positive thinking. You can improve your attitude and view on exercise if that's a problem - a goal to work towards also helps.

what about biking? or something for the stomach?

Cardio focuses on burning calories, not - generally - on burning fat in certain areas. Running does work your abdominal muscles alot, if you're running with good posture. If you find keeping good posture is a hard thing to do (straight back, not bobbing the body forward and back or anything like that), then by doing that you will be forcing your stomach muscles to strengthen. This will also improve your posture and can help in preventing back problems. Another thing, whenever you find yourself slouching while walking/running or while sitting (unless you're trying to relax before going to sleep or something like that), you should try to sit up fairly straight. I've heard that sitting on a workout ball rather than a chair is good for this.

i have a balance ball.. so i might try that. any other exercises good to do on it?

Something that I want to get one for, is they are great for developing balance and abdominal strength. Try laying on it, with your feet flat on the ground in front of you, and your body straight backwards (you'll know you're going too far when you lose your balance), and doing ab crunches http://www.enduranceplus.com/swiss-crunch.jpg This is supposed to be an awesome workout for developing abdominal strength since you're supporting your body while also doing crunches. I know that there's alot of exercises that can be done with an exercise ball, and you should be able to find quite a few by searching for them on google or any other search engine.
