Hello,I recently noticed that I have a white/yellowish thing layer of substance on my tongue which I think is the cause of bad breath and my bad taste. I believe it is Thursh which is a fungus. What over the counter medications can I take that will clear this up before I go to the dentist? Also I believe eating yogurt helps increase the anti-bacterial that is needed, do you know which brand?I use a tongue scrapper, but it didnt work as well. Thanks

White Substance on Tongue

You could ask at the local pharmacy what they have for oral thrush. However, you don't really know that's what it is, so it would be better to see a doctor.
The idea of (some) yoghurt is that it contains live "good" bacteria that can help keep the bad bacteria at bay, especially after you've finished a course of antibiotics. But I doubt it would make much difference with fungal infections.

Do you keep yourself well hydrated?

Are you sexually active?

Well I have had sex in the past, but am not currently sexually active. And I'm a male, and I'm heterosexual and have never given any oral sex.

did you use a condom? And have you ever been tested for STD's?

... Anyway, since my question was dismissed. lol. Number one cause of white tongue is not being well hydrated. If you drink plenty of water then...... I didn't say anything.
