Ive seen this in TV Shows and heard in songs where the mother is going to give birth, and the baby is fine, but she is going to die...Is this really true? I mean, can it happen? Im afraid that when my girlfriend (future wife) and i decide to have a baby, that something will happen to her when she is giving birth to the baby.Is it really possible to die while giving birth? What are the odds of it? How likely is it to happen?

Death during birth?

Yes it is possible, but extremely unlikely in this day and age with modern medecine. Unless, of course you're in some excluded outpost with no access to medical help. Don't spend much time worrying about it.

Thank you...relives the stress of that.

Woah I can't beleive you are worrying about this........how many women have babies EVERY day and both are fine.Yes, it is possible for the mother to die in childbirth, but, it is rare these days, more often than not IF there is a problem it will be the baby.I have had 3 hard pregnancies, and ceasarean births, where all 3 of my children have been in intensive care afterwards.......the longest was my daughter who was in ICU for 8 weeks, I didn't get to hold her till she was 6 weeks old! Don't let the thought of what could happen spoil what will almost certainly be the best thing that ever happens to you!

if your girlfriand/future wife keeps up with her doctor appointments, and the person who is delivering the baby is a doctor or someone who knows what they are doing, then there is a very slim chance that she could die.
