What are the chances?

It should state the failure rate somewhere in the package.

Very very rarely do you get a false positive. False negatives usually only happen if you take the test wrong or too soon. Usually a few days after a missed period is earlier enough to test.

EPT also suggested that women can take the test 19 or more days after the last intercourse. I guess this has to do with the fact that women can ovulate later than they expect so taking the test on the first day of a missed period may not always give accurate results. So, I think the best thing to do is wait after a missed period, and if you had intercourse in the middle of the cycle and kind of close to your expected period, wait another 19 days from that last intercourse date. I know that's a lot of waiting (lol) but I'm the meticulous, paranoid type so I want ACCURATE results (lol)

Even if you do get your period, i would say to still take the test just to be better at ease. With all three of my cousin's pregnacies she had her period for the first 4 months. You know your body, if something to you doesn't feel right or your still wondering, just take the test. And like someone mentioned...false positive,rare...false negative...it could happen.

Well I have to say that i had 3 negative tests when I was pregnant with my first baby........I *knew* I was pregnant.....but the test said I wasn't.....I was nearly 3 months along before I got a positive test......but I have to say this is very very rare!
