[ In reply to: science and fact disprove god, so you better think of that. since you're so into facts and evidence, find me some scientific proof that he's not out there. Science can no more disprove God, as much as I can jump over the ocean. Why? because the only way to disprove God, is to die, come back, and say, "nope, no one there". However, there are people who have claimed to have died, and they have either gone to heaven or hell, they document their experiences, and tell others about them.

In reply to: Last, I feel so sorry for you. And I know He's against it, because I have faith in what He says, and when I die, if I'm wrong about the "whole God thing" then what awaites me? Nothing? Ok, I can deal with that, But if I'm correct, I will be at peace with my Lord and Savior, where will you be? thank you for your pity, i will now be saved. come on, smarten up. any degree of logic can see that the whole 'heaven' and 'hell' thing are mearly ways to scare human beings into following a certain set of guidelines. don't pity me, pity your closed-minded self.
-
fuck it, i give, nothing you say can change my knowledge, call me myopic, ignorant, whatever you want, point out all the wholes in the bible you can find, it is not going to change what I KNOW. I only pray that when you die, you have peace of mind knowing you turned your back on God, not the other way around, because that peace in your mind, will be the only peace you will have.
-
it's not what you KNOW, it's what you BELIEVE, those are two very different things, and once you realize the difference, the world is going to look a whole lot brighter to you.
ex: i KNOW that water is a liquid. i BELIEVE there are aliens out there.
see the difference there?
-
No, I KNOW...people believe in Santa, people believe in the Easter bunny, I KNOW there is a God, AND I KNOW that Jesus died for my sins.
-
no you don't KNOW there is a god. if you cannot physically prove it to anyone, than you cannot KNOW it for sure. you can BELIEVE til the end of the world, but you cannot for certain tell me there is a god.
-
I have faith that God and Jesus are real. You can do nothing other than that. Even you can only 'belive' that there is no God or other 'thing' outside our realm. You also have to have faith to belive in the big bang theory and evolution. Since there is no real way to prove any of it.
-
now what the fuck is the point of arguing over something like religion!!?it's not really going to prove anything.

In reply to: make sure that you run away w your tail between your legs, and i am pretty sure that is what f22 has done! Sigh...guy's I didn't run away...my computer broke a couple weeks ago, and I'd been using my mom's at home over the break. I'm back at school now, and I'm picking my computer up tomorrow evening, so I should be ready to go again by then. So, Last, get ready to gather your thoughts so we can start a real debate and stop this foolishness. See y'all tomorrow

In reply to: i was raised christian for 14 years of my life. so i know what the hell i am talking about. Being raised a Christian and being a Christian are totaly different things. I know many people who were raised Chritian yet show no sign of there lives being affected by it. I was also raised up in the church. I was Christian on the outside but not the inside were it counts. It wasn't until i was 14ish when i discovered who God really was. In reply to: if you are saying all things have a creator? who created him? No one said anything about everything needing a creator. Scientist have always had theories about how if you lived in a 2D world you would never even know about the difference. God's doesn't need to be created. He always is and always will be. In reply to: I mean really, if said god created all, then wouldn't it go to stand that there other lifeforms out that there that may take precedant over humans? Well, hmmm there could be exept God created man to be over all other life. To take care of. In reply to: we are a speck of dust to something as omnipotant as this supposed god. do you care about the ants or specks of dust outside your doorway? doubt it. God created Humans so he could be loved and love back. he made us have free will because what fun would it be to program your computer to say 'I love you' if theres nothing behind it. Think of it more as this: why do people have pets? I mean, dogs will stop at nothing to show their love for you. It gives you a since of comfort and meaning that at least something cares for you. It's the same way with God. In reply to: oh and if i am being blasphemous, let your god strick me dead now! come on, bring it on mother fucker! "Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 'If you are the Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down. For it is written:'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone' [psalm 91:11,12]Jesus answered him, 'It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test' [Deuteronomy 6:16]"---Matthew 4:5-7--- In reply to: if there is or ever was a god, i just want you to know that your god is dead, and no one cares. I'm sorry you feel this way but your wrong. I do care and so do many other people. If God to you is dead then i'm also sorry. My God is still alive and kickin. In reply to: how do you truely know this? does he call you at home? does he send you letters? email you? keep in touch? check up on you? yeah, i thought not. if HE is out there? he certainly doesn't give two shits about you. Actully, He does care for all of us. Going back to the pet thing, If you pet (assuming the dog again) bites you. Ya, your going to be mad. But unless your totaly heartless your going to try and get the dog to behave. As for talking, yes, He does talk. You just have to listen. Most people beg for God's word and when it comes and it's not what they want to hear they don't listen. Yes he does check up of us. 24/7 I for one feel comforted by that fact. I'll be praying for you Last. I know you'll be able to find God in your own time.
-
yes, i suppose my posts will just be ignored as usual, but why argue about something that will never change?
-
it's not that your post was ignored, it's just that Last has taken it upon himself to try to lead people away from something they consider very personal.
Let me put it like this: How would you feel, if Last tried to continually tell you that your skin color was wrong, and everything about you was a big lie, and that you need to wake up to reality? Would that make you defensive? It would, if I were you.
-
People argue for argument's sake. Politics is the same way. Most likely none of it will change people's minds, but every so often someone changes. So in essence, argument is a disguised sign of hope.
-
Sorry 000. I need to at least try and tell the truth. If I don't i just wouldn't feel right. It's like i know the best kept secret and i just have to let it out.
-
those are pretty good reasons - i'll just stay out of it then
-
I have to say that I fall on Last's side of the argument, but I'm not so extremist. Faith is something for each person to find in themselves, and it means different things to different people. Christianity just isn't something I believe in, except for maybe a few of the ideals like treating others the way you want to be treated.
Religion is a way of expressing our faith, and because of the very nature of people we will never totally agree on one thing. Especially in as diverse a society as we live in today. The one thing I hate though is when people try to tell me that their way is right and mine isn't going to get me anywhere, and I think that my negative outlook on Christianity stems from that. I'm not against your beliefs, but I am against the fact that some Christians try to convert others by telling them that their views are misleading and god is the only way to true happiness. Believing exclusively in Christianity is part of the nature of the religion, but that doesn't give extremists the right neglect other people's views as incompetant or non existant (not saying that's happening here, but in general).
-
Although you may agree with Last, you in no way partake in his bashing of those whom he opposes, and I respect you for that. I was by no means or in any way trying to convert any person on here. But I was simply defending my Father, as say you would defend your mother, sister, or father.

I was also raised up in the church. I was Christian on the outside but not the inside were it counts. It wasn't until i was 14ish when i discovered who God really was. well good for you for discovering santa, er..i mean god. now, what i am saying is that i know what christianity is all about. it's about deciept and deception with a dash of brainwashing. i wasn't claiming to be christian, i was simply stating that i was well aware of the 'greener' pasture, and from here it's looking awfully brown. In reply to: God's doesn't need to be created. He always is and always will be. well, that doesn't make sense. if god created all, someone HAD to create god. it doesn't make any sense for god to just appear out of nowhere. see, this my friend, would be a 'hole' in your fairy tale. you are blindly accepting that there is a god, at least use your common sense and ask some relevant questions in regards to this 'god'. In reply to: Well, hmmm there could be exept God created man to be over all other life. To take care of. again guys, it's very egotistical to assume man rules all. it's already been proven that our milky way is massive, so why would you assume that you were the only thing alive in the universe? in all this huge mix of stars, planets, galaxies, etc, there is positively zero way, that we are the only 'earth' out there. In reply to: God created Humans so he could be loved and love back. he made us have free will because what fun would it be to program your computer to say 'I love you' if theres nothing behind it. Think of it more as this: why do people have pets? I mean, dogs will stop at nothing to show their love for you. It gives you a since of comfort and meaning that at least something cares for you. It's the same way with God. heh heh, so you are saying that this supposed omnipotent individual NEEDS our love? not very omnipotant is he then? and 'what fun would this be?' so this is a big game to him? grreeat, all the more reason not to serve him then. In reply to: "Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 'If you are the Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down. For it is written:'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone' [psalm 91:11,12]Jesus answered him, 'It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test' [Deuteronomy 6:16]" you missed a part of it, 'It is also written" Do not put the Lord your God to the test, because you may find out that He in fact, does not exist' In reply to: Actully, He does care for all of us. Going back to the pet thing, If you pet (assuming the dog again) bites you. Ya, your going to be mad. But unless your totaly heartless your going to try and get the dog to behave. Yes he does check up of us. 24/7 I for one feel comforted by that fact. k, enough of this. we are not pets, and god is not our master. that is something tangible, not completely believed upon by blind faith alone. there is no punishment nor is there reward. like i have said before, show me either and i will change my viewpoint. i for one, will not waste my life on something that is definitely a leap of faith. In reply to: I'll be praying for you Last. I know you'll be able to find God in your own time no, i won't . i have been down that road, and i disagree with it heavily (suprise!) i don't agree w singling out a minority like homosexuality and saying they are wrong. i don't agree w men being the head of the house, i don't agree w a false sense of security. worshipping and fearing an intangible figure that will punish me if i am not good. that my friends, is a waste of life.
