Two years ago, after the disaster of student teaching, I tried looking for work, after I attained my math degree. I had trouble finding work in 2003 and I barely tried in 2004 due to my failed attempt at graduate school. Now, I don't feel qualified or capable of being able to do anything that isn't a shitty job. I don't want to work a job that I hate and I did 2.5 years of part time retail in college. I just wonder how I can get out of this rut.

I fear that I may not be able to find work.

There are plenty of career sites on the Internet. Try Monster, or visit an agency in your area.

I had tried them a couple of years ago, never got a response to my resume.

A couple of years ago? Try again, have someone look at your resume, anyone can get a decent job, you just have to do some looking

Yes, persistence is important. Keep trying and trying.

Winners never give up.keep trying, send applications. The worst that can happen is you'd be turned down, but it's better to lose an opportunity with trying than to lose them without trying at all- you'll never know where you'll do best and who'll give you the chance. Don't step back at every chance of failing...keep going, and one day you'll find what you want
