Hi guys, after struggling with my self image for as long as i can remember i've decided to get into shape and get fit but i need some tips. For the last two weeks i've cut out all the junk food and i'm eating 3 meals a day, typical day is muesli, cheese salad sandwhich and chicken and rice in the evening, with fruit as a snack.I follow an exercise video i have and do that 3 times a week but i'm getting disheartened cos i haven't noticed any difference, i know its not gonna happen quickly or be easy but i'm getting down over the lack of progress. Does anyone have any tips? I can't join a gym cos of financial issues. So i only walk my dog and do my exercises at home. Am i doing something wrong ?

I think you should really look into getting some dumb bells. You can do all kinds of exercises with them and it's a great tool to weight train with.

No I don't think your doing any thing wrong.Aerobic training is great but Aerobic and weight training can really speed things up and might help you notice results. Also I’ve heard that when doing aerobic exercises you should do them so that you’re no more than 60% of your max heart rate. I’m told that past about 65% of your max heart rate you start to metabolize more carbohydrates for energy instead of fat. Basically slow and long for max fat burning is what I’ve heard. Also I’m guessing you’d probably have to have a significant weight loss before you really notice any weight loss, but another way to look at it is to see if your clothes are fitting any better. And finally stick with it and you’ll get to where you want to be

The best diet for weight loss is chicken breasts and protein shakes. Eat 6 meals a day. For your odd meals have a 6-8oz protein shake. And for your even meals have 1/2 of a dry chicken breast. You still need to excerise though. Run, with your dog for as long as you can and work your way up.

I heard the absolute fastest way to lose weight is a very low carb (30 - 35 grams a day) diet, provided you keep caloric and saturated fat intake to average levels.

Low carb diets can be pretty unhealthy. Lacking carbohydrates forces the body to create excessive amounts of insulin and most of the time the weight is gained right back when normal eating habits are returned. A great body that lasts is gained through weight training, cardio, and healthy eating habits.

Are you sure? ... Because I thought it was carbohydrates like that caused your body to release insulin.Maybe a mod can come clear it up I know that the long term effects of a low carb diet are somewhat unknown seeing as how the diet is relatively new...And if you switch diets right and maintain your activity level you don’t have to worry about the weight gain

A low carbohydrate diet usually incurs that a person will intake high protein and perhaps fatty foods. For example, "I can't have my toast, but I sure can eat my bacon and eggs!" I may have gotten something mixed up, but through research you will still find that a low carbohydrate diets are not the way to go. To cite a source of mine, you can check out an episode of a show I used to watch. Body Hits: Body Beautiful.

The diet isn't as new as you think. People who continue on dangerously low carbohydrate diets can suffer from all sorts of issues including weak bones, kidney falure, and ketosis.

Right this was my original post as uneducated but I can't get my old user name back...
Anyway. So a little update. I've lost 1 1/2 stones (21 Ibs) since I posted this so its definetly worth keeping it up. The only problem i'm having is I'm not seeing any difference in my body shape and toning up. My Jeans are too big for me now and t shirts are looser but I haven't toned up at all.
I need some good exercises. I keep getting told different stuff. Like don't bother doing sit ups if there is fat on your stomach cos you won't get anywhere, so how do you exercise those muscles and lose the weight there?
Also i recently got told i had tendonitis in my foot which is due to me suddenly being active after years of nothing so i need tips for exercises that aren't too much on my foot.
Thanks in advance.

Things dont happen over night and the reason you probably dont notice is cuz you've been looking at your body in the mirror for the past couple of months every day..so theres no way u could se much change..but if you took a picture from some months ago and now..you could compare.
