a pap smear has nothing to do with having sex, a specialist is better, they can do more sophisticated blood work, have you had an ultrasound or transvaginal exam done?
-
Scared...What could it be?
-
You may have gone through the menapause early, it can happen, i heard a 3 yr old had it happen to her, poor thing
-
It sounds like you could just be low on estrogen - the female hormone. Go to your doctor if you're especially worried about it.
-
i am extremely worried about it, BUT even if i wanted to go on hormone replacement therapy i couldn't, because of the BRCA2 gene (it causes breast and ovarian cancer). I have to have a hystarectomy and mastectomy before i can even consider hormone replacement therapy.
-
Just because you have the gene doesn't mean you're going to get cancer. You'd be suprised how many women carry that gene. What's with the talk about hormone replacement therapy? There's no reason you would need that.
-
i lack estrogen, and it was suggested to me to see an endocrinologist and go on hormone replacement therapy, but i can't because of the gene.everyone carys the brca2 gene, but the mutation causes cancer and when the risk goes from 9% (non mutated) to 97% (mutate) there is a cause for worry.
-
you don't need hormone replacement therapy for that, have you tried the pill?
-
can't take the pill because it causes migranesi am only 21 and i see a specialist about a hystarectomy on friday, and because i am so young they want me to have the surgery and then go on hrt
-
because you're so young they want you to have a hysterectomy? that's a bunch of bs...that is the very last option, most doctors won't peform a hysterectory on a woman under 40 unless it's life or death, plus a hysterectomy is not performed on someone who is not having their periods, it's the opposite, there are so many different brands of birth control out there...even if you do suffer from migraines, you need to see a different doctor
-
there is something that you obviously don't understandregardless of my age i HAVE to have a hysto and mastectomy so better young then old because i can heal faster at a young age
-
You asked for people's opinions...what are you looking for then? I think you need second opinions. No 21 needs both a hysterectomy and a masectomy just because they carry the gene and they're not having their period.
-
amandado you have the gene mutation, are you a doctorgranted yes a second opinion is a good idea, but there is obviously something that you are missing or mis-readingwhen a woman doesn't get her period and it is because she lacks estrogen, the ideal response when nothing else can be done is to put that woman on hormone replacement therapy, especially if they are young like myself.but when a woman has the brca2 gene mutation they refuse to put her on hrt because it increses the chance of getting breast and ovarian cancer to 99% because of the added estrogen (if she still has her breasts and ovaries)therefore in my case they want to do both a hysto and mastectomy to be better safe then sorry.maybe its because you live in the statesyour medicare sucks!here in canada we prefer to do PREVENTATIVE treatment rather then wait for the person to get full blowen whatever the ailment is and then deal with it from there when it will cost even more.
