I was just wondering if anyone knew any people with anorexia or bulimia in your school or outside of school

Bulimia

i don't know her personally, but there is a woman who shops at my local grocer that is anorexic. it's really sad. not to be crass, but anorexics get that 'rat face' look. she's about 5'5" and i guesstimate she weighs 85#. ouch.

My bestfriend (shes like a sister to me) has battled both anorexia or bulimia for several years, and it's so hard to watch her go through that. When she was in 7th grade (I was in 8th) her boyfriend told her she was fat and he didn't want a fat girlfriend so she needed to do something about it. At the time she was 5'7" and weighed about 160 pounds. She was very healthy, and she was slim, but not slim enough for him so she started starving herself and when she did eat she'd make herself throw up (I didn't know that till years later). She started to lose weight really quickly and she soon became a walking skeletion (she ended up weighing between 120 to 127 and by that time she was around 5'10"). It was so scary to see her like that and not know what to do about it. She was a pale white almost yellow, her hair had lost all shine and it was nothing but a dull sickly brown, she had dark circles under her eyes, she looked terrible, and she was nothing more than skin and bones. Yet she thought she looked great because she was skinny and that's what her boyfriend wanted. I finally made her sit down with me and I told her how worried I was about her and made her get some help, because if she didn't tell someone soon, then I would. She's now a senior in high school and she's up to a healthy weight. Although she sometimes thinks about sliping back into her old habbits of starving herself and wanting to make herself throw up, she doesn't. She comes to me or someone else she trusts and talks about it. I'm so proud of her, and I don't know what I would have done if she didn't get help because she would have died. It's a scary to think that could have happened to her if she hadn't got the help she needed.

Wow, that sounds rough. I mean I know from experience how hard it is to get over bulimia, but I couldn't imagine having both. I still have my urges all the time and I probably will for the rest of my life. That's why I'm in therapy right now.
