Green tea has been shown to be very good for your health. It contains a very high concentration of antioxidants that aid in getting rid of the oxidants that are linked to aging, cancer, and many other problems. Oxidants are free molecules, the remains of some reactions that take place in our bodies, that are unstable and bond to the molecules in our cells, causing unpleasant results. Antioxidants bond to the oxidants instead, before they get a chance to attack the cells in our body. The concentration of antioxidants in green tea is higher than that in some of the best fruits and vegetables. This doesn't mean that fruits and vegetables aren't important as they contain many other vitamins and other things that are imporant to our health, but green tea is an excellent source of antioxidants.Other teas (not sure if herbal is included in this) are also high in antioxidants, but they have less than green tea. This has to do with the process in which they're made, since green tea leaves are heated and dried while other teas allow the leaves to ferment slightly and are often dried with higher temperatures. Antioxidants in the tea can also be lowered by using boiling water since the temperature can causes damage to the substances, so it should be prepard with water that is hot, but not quite to the point of boiling.Green tea is also thought to be one of the healthier parts of the japanese diet versus the north american diet. Yep, lots of asians have known about the secrets of tea for a long time. It may be the sole reason why many asians don't seem to age as fast.

I've been religiously drinking green tea for 2 1/2 years now. I drink 1-2 cups of it every night...I think it has helped me keep the weight off, and it makes my skin look healthier. I have fewer pimples. It also fills you up so that you won't want to eat as much food, and the great thing is, there are no carbs, fat, or calories in it.

I have read studies that one of the largest doses of antioxidants you can get is from coffee.
