I have a friend who is sexually active. Her bf complains about wearing a condom and she doesn't want to get pregnant so she was going to start taking the pill or getting shots (both of which are offered free at our college) I was wondering what are some of the side effects of each. She was really worried about the shot making her fat (as if, she's skinny as a stick, lol)Thanks

Pill vs. shot

If her boyfriend doesn't want to wear a condom then she needs to find a new boyfriend. The pill isn't 100% effective and neither is the shot. She needs to be using either of those along with a condom.

Both the pill and the shot have the same kind of hormones in them, so it really won't help if you are trying to decide which will make you fatter. Some people gain a little bit of weight, but I don't think most people are effected by that. The only things to consider when trying to decide between the pill and the shot are whether or not you can remember to take a pill everyday at the same time or if it'd be easier for you to have a shot a few times a year and not worry about it. Both are over 99% effective WHEN taken perfectly.

I've heard that people using the shot are more prone to different side affects. Could be a rumor. But like boodiddle said, if you can't remember to take the pill everyday then you should probably try out the shot first.

yeah i agree with websexinfo and boodiddle if she cant remember to take the pill everyday then try the shot but her boyfriend should still wear a condom.

Yep, condoms can save your life. *no sarcasm*

Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on.
