Is there different birth control pills that do different things? Because I'm going to the gynochologist for the first time pretty soon and I'm gonna get it. But I don't want to tell them that I'm having sex because if my parents found out I'd be dead. So I'm just going to say that I'm irregular and have bad cramps. But will they just give me a pill that wouldn't really prevent pregnancy, it would just help the cramps? Or if I tell them that I am having sex, would they tell my mom, or be allowed to tell her. Like the patient-doctor confidetiality thing? And then last thing.. When I am on the pill, the one that's preventing pregnancy... It's okay to have sex without condom, right? Or what are the chances that I'll get pregnant on the pill but no condoms?

Different kinds of pills?

If you're going to see a gyno you need to be upfront and honest. If you're having sex then you need to say that. The gyno will start off the exam by asking about your sexual history. You need to be tested for STD's as well if you're sexually active. Your parents could find out. If you're under 18 and on their health insurance then they most likely will find out. Saying you're having bad cramps doesn't necessarily mean a gyno will give you the pill. He/she would probably do more testing which would invovle an ultrasound and/or transvaginal exam before he/she would give you the pills. At any rate you need to be honest. All birth control pills prevent pregnancy. You really should be using the pill along with a condom. The pill isn't 100% effective, and in less you're in a committed relationship and would be able to raise a child on your own then you need to be using a backup method as well.

There are patient/confidentiality laws. You should feel safe and comfortable with telling your doctor the truth. If you are uncomfortable talking to your regular doctor, go to a Planned Parenthood Clinic or the Health Department. Regardless of whether or not you are eighteen, they absolutely HAVE TO AND WILL keep things confidential there. And all birth control pills have the same effectiveness. All of them are 99% effective if taken perfectly. (Not missing any and taking them the same time every day.) I've been on them for seven years and haven't gotten pregnant and I don't use a back up unless I missed a pill or am taking antibiotics. (Antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of b.c.p.)

ok because i'd like to be honest with the doctor. but i want to be 100% sure that my mom will not find out that i'm having sex. she'd know that i'm getting the pill, just for different reasons. cus if she found out, i would be dead

You can't be sure the doctor won't tell your parents. If you're under 18 then they have the right to tell your parents. Plus the doctor is most likely going to do a STD test if she's knows you're sexually active, and like I said before if your parents are the ones paying for the health insurance then they most likely will find out.

Go to google.com and do a search for planned parenthood. This place will get you cheap birth control without a parent signature or anything. They do a physical exam and STD test. The only bad thing is they send you your STD test results in the mail. So, find a friend who's house you can have that sent to..unless you get you're own mail. You need to bring them your social security number too so make sure you know that. They keep everything confidential and won't tell your parents. It's usually about $15 a month for birth control. This would be your best option and you are very smart for wanting birth control. If you decide to do this you need to go on to the website or call then to make an apointment. Hopefully you can drive or you have a friend who can take you.good luck
