Katie, sorry to hear about your mum, I can't say that I know how it feels but my Aunty had lung cancer from smoking, she lived in England at the time so my dad went over to visit her. He ended up stayingan extra day for her funeral. It was very sad.But I'm sure your mum will be alright, my aunt was sick for a long time. Good luck in your quest to quit smoking, I hope you beat the habit and that your mom makes a full recovery.

Smoking....

I started smoking at 14 with my older brother. I used to steal ciggerates from him and me and my friends (we all lived on a lake) would take a paddle boat out and smoke. I didn't like it at frist but after a while i needed it. All 3 of my friends and I still smoke now but me and my best friend are trying to quit so I am not so out of shape over the summer.

I started smoking at age 13. I was trying to be cool and fit in with my 16-20 yr old friends. But I learned it wasn't so cool, and I quit. It only took me a few days, and then I couldn't turn them down. But I think it just depends on the person.

I started smoking cigerettes when i turned 13. Never really got addicted at first but i kept smoking anyway. Then last year for about a week while i was at my friends house i smoked almost a pack a day(his mom let us smoke, even but us cigerettes) and ever since then i have been addicted. Now im almost 16, but i have been trying to quit. The last two times I've been offered cigerettes I've turned the little bastards down lol. So my advice is don't even pick up the habit.

Well I posted the question over a year ago, never intended to smoke then, haven't smoked since and never will in the future. But thanks for the belated reply.
