I noticed on my tongue it seems has little bumps on the edges . they are sore along my teeth and I seem to keep accidentaly biting making it worse. So I had thought maybe I had chomped a good one on my tongue, making it sore an aggitating it to be a swollen which kept getting in the way of my bite repeatedly. I Didnt' think to much of it, in the last couple days , but yesterday I noticed like a little white head or something, kinda feels like a zit but its near the tip of my tongue, along with little pronounced bumps down the side. So would this be more likely to be a cold sore, or more like i should think oral herpes. the white spot only lasted a day, I cant' really see it now but I still feel the bump is sore. I don't have sores around my lips or on the top of my tongue. So I had thought it was just the aggitation from my teeth that started it. Should I be worried about more of an outbreak. Does it sound more likely im infected or aggitated.....

it sounds like a cold sore or something like it, herpes would have a different form of sore so i dont think its that and if it would be some type of oral disease then i would think it would be on your lips to not just in your mouth so maybe it will go away soon but if it doesnt and starts gettin worse then i would def. go to a doctor. but i think i know what you might i had something similar to it a few years ago and the only thing i could drink was coolaid but it was more on my gums and the inside of my cheeks in my mouth.

No, no, no. Cold sores are herpes simplex one and are a virus. They occur on the outside of your lips or around your mouth. You don't get them on the inside of your mouth or on your tongue. What you have is called a canker sore. Canker sores are entirely different from cold sores. They are not any kind of virus or disease. They are a result from a trauma to your mouth, such as biting yourself, getting hit with something, jabbing yourself with your toothbrush, etc. You can also get them from eating acidic foods. I get what you are describing a lot of times when I accidently bite myself. I grind my teeth at night, so a lot of times I bite my tongue in my sleep. You are fine. Gargle with some warm salt water a couple times a day. Oral wounds heal quickly.

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research says:In reply to:Fever blisters, also called cold sores, usually occur outside the mouth--on the lips, chin, cheeks or in the nostrils. When fever blisters do occur inside the mouth, it is usually on the gums or the roof of the mouth. Inside the mouth, fever blisters are smaller than canker sores, heal more quickly, and often begin as a blister.
