curretnly, I have a 8% body fat and I need advice. I want to get down to about 4-6% body fat... Are there any really effective ways of doing that? By the way, I am 5'3" and weigh about 100 Ibs. I eat a lot and I work out a lot too, would not eating and working out more help? (I lift in the morning for an hour, then after school for an hour, then lacrosse for 2 1/2 hrs and running class for 1 hr) Again, should I do that and not eat as much?

TEEHEE! I'm 101 lbs and I took a test it said i had 24% body fat...if I was you I'd have like 83 lbs? Anyways...you need some fat for the cushion...Too low is bad for you? I think? Well for girls it is. You know if girls had 8% body fat, its more unlikely they would become pregnant or have regular periods??!?! Wow..thats why you can't make fun of a girl for having fat..
-
I am 23-24% right now...If I drop to 15 precent I would weigh about 170.

heres the recent news on body fat. male athletes, you should be around 8 - 12%. average "Fit" men are between 10 - 18%. stocky men are between 18 - 20% and then you get into the heavy, and over weight area. you DO NOT want to drop below 8%. it makes you look scrony and no matter how toned your muscles are, it is all around a bad thing. as soon as you drop to 5%, you are concidered in medical danger, and your body can react badly enough that you need to be hospitalized. the main thing is, say healthy, and excersice. if you do that, you wont have to worry about your body fat.ps. if you want a healthy diet that gives you a low body fat, try going vegitarian. I have been one for all my life, and by BFP is 8% on the money.

If your just weighing in, don't eat or drink anything before you weigh in, go to the bathroom if you can too. Your just weighing into a weight class right? Stay healthy, that is the most important thing, but you can sweat some of the weight off, and replace it later with liquids, don't over do it though, dehydration is dangerous too!!!
-
I do all that but I am growing now and making huge weight gains without eating at all! I lift all the time and I am almost 2 pounds over. Before a match I do not eat the day before or the day of and I still barely make weight.
-
Well, since the fact is that your growing, you just might be stuck heading into the next weight class :frowning: You really need to stay healthy to grow..sorry, don't know if the guys have any other tips, but don't make yourself sick by trying to stay in that class.

I was just wondering if anyone had a good diet to lower body fat. Im current around a 10.5% but i want to get down to a 7 or 8% so I can really see my abs really well. If anyone can give me a sample diet I would really appreicate it.

Hey wrestlerworries, Im a wrestler too, fancy that. So I know where your coming from. What grade are you in?If you are a freshman or sophomore in JV or something, it isnt a big deal if you go up one weight class, unless you cant make the team that way. But if you are Varsity or College, I can totally understand.Laxatives, when you dont have a match for say a week or so, start popping those laxatives and clean your system for anything clinging on.Also, if you have some time to loose a lot of water, maybe, again, a week before a match, drink as much water you can without drowning, you will piss a lot and wash all the salts out of your body, thus your body will not be able to hold water, and you will just loose loose loose. Don't drink soda and eat stuff with little to no sodium. These are some ways to loose lots of pounds without actually loosing stuff you need.I know my coach had 4% body fat his senior year and could bench 360 lbs, so I don't think its as bad as you made it out to be.Also, where'd you go to get your body fat tested? I am curious to know how much I could loose. I am a freshmen in high school, and I was on JV this year, 152, then dropped to 145. Back up to 155 after a month off season. I want to go to 135s next year. I'm 5'10.Hope I could help

The original poster want to lose body fat, not water and electrolytes. In fact, if you take stuff out of the body besides fat, that the fat percentage of the body increases.
The things you suggested are bad for your health. If your coach has half a brain, he'd be shocked that you do this. Next you going to tell him to throw up after each meal?
What is the point of losing water weight? Since when did dehydration become a good thing?
-
Try eating most of your calories in the morning that way you will continuously burn them. If you consume too much for dinner, the glycogen will turn into storage fat something you don't want at all. Laxitives aren't the way to go. Temporary dehydration is okay as long as you don't do it for more than a day. Actually, the lowest bodyfat a healthy male can go to is 3 percent body fat. I'm just curious, but how did you get your %body fat? Many of those tests can be anywhere from +/-5 or +/-10 percent so maybe you have reached your limit.
-
In reply to:Temporary dehydration is okay as long as you don't do it for more than a day.I assume you mean that it can happen, and it won't kill you. But why why would anyone dehydrate themselves on purpose, even for a short time? It definitely has a bad effect on athletic performance.

To make weight.Water weighs a lot, and it can be replaced. So you just loose it all, weigh in, and drink it back (slowly, of course). You have time to drink before a match/after weigh ins.
-
In reply to:To make weight.OK, I see. But it would be a lot better to drop the fat instead, so you have room for the water. If your fat content is already low, then you need to move up to the next weight class.

Or do the water trick.
