Please help me with my massive computer problems!!
-
but is it suposed to be on my computer???
-
so obviously it is part of a spyware program that trys to install itself on my computer...will it harm any other parts of my computer if i dirrectly delete it???
-
exe. stands for an exectable file that runs a program.
-
but on the link that was posted it says it is spyware and it should be removed immideatley and i am wondering if it will harm my computer when i delete it
-
Whoops.. I thought he was asking what is a ".exe".
-
I don't think a file named "a.exe" is legit. Get rid of it.
-
lol ok...do you know how i should go about removing "a.exe"??
-
k

Yeah, haha. A girl I know wanted me to fix her computer last week and she kept complaining about a file called a.exe that kept reproducing itself. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have caught it either. You can try to remove it. It shouldn't hurt anything. It might reproduce itself though and if it does then you'll have to look to other ways of getting rid of it.
-
No, a.exe is described as a "commercials file that registers itself in the system registry and redirects IE to a certain commercial website". It's installed by a worm and you don't want it.
-
i also have another question...I am trying to play a game called runescape (www.runescape.com) and when i try to go onto one of the games, it just gives me a "X" in the top left corner of the game screen...Is there a way to fix this???
-
Sometimes you can find that program under ad-remove, if not let your ad-aware or spybot kill it. Do a search on comp for anything that has "a.exe." check it out and delete the folder if you find it.
-
I just ran the game using Mozilla fine... What plug-in are you missing?
You may want to try some of the things people have suggested. Especially the idea to boot into safe mode and run ad-aware from there.
-
well...it would be a bad idea to delete my SYSTEM folder...lol i would like my computer to still function, even if it doesnt function well...lol i think i removed "a.exe" and i took those other spy/adware off my startup list but i dont want to remove them just incase i hurt the rest of my computer lol
-
it is not missing the plugin...i think the plugin just hates me or something...its the java runtime plugin and it installs but never works right lol...
-
the spywatcher is working well...something keeps trying to change my homepage on internet explorer to about:blank and the spywatcher keeps asking me to accept or reject the change...i dont know what is causing these changes.
-
Yeah, I noticed it was JAVA when I went into it, but I had no trouble. But I am running XP pro which is my favorite OS right above windows 2000. 98se is plain outdated... but at least thumbdrives still support it.
-
i have tried everything to get mozilla and internet explorer working again for this game and nothing works...even reinstalling them and the drivers...it wont even play on a runescape client(yes i trust the maker of this client)..

What are your system specs? You may want to look into updating your OS. Reformatting and reloading will fix it.
