You don't have to boot from it, just put it in when everything is up and running

In reply to: I also have what i think is my vidio card in my system properties that had an "!" next to it it is called ATI 3D Rage Pro (atir3) Possibly needs a driver update.

does anyone know what software i should use for this???ATI 3D Rage Pro (atir3)Maybe a link to dirrectly download the driver??
-
do a search at driver guide homepage you should find it
-
u have to sign up...any non-sign-up downloads such as www.download.com
-
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wme-j5-30-1-b02.exeIf that link doesn't start downloading correctly, it's because you need the latest version of DirectX. It's available on the windows update site if you don't have that. Once you've downloaded DirectX, you can return to this link as well.http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winme/wme-rpro-4132655-directx.html

hey everyone...im on my other computer now and i am having troubles checking my e-mail on aol and comcast...when i go to open it in internet explorer...both of the just keep reloading the page after clicking on the link for e-mail...is there a way to fix this??And I am also wondering if there is a way to network a laptop to my printer so i can print things from my laptop...Please respond asap. I also have a list of items that apparently dont have drivers in the system properties panel..:Under the PCI bus PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge PCI Communication Device PCI Input Controller PCI Multimedia Audio Device PCI System Management BusAlso under standard Floppy Disk Controller: Unknown deviceI also need the software to install a HP CD Writer 9100 series which is my CD burner and it says multiread on the front(this is a slow cd burner if you want to know..like 8x or something...)
-
CD burners as far as I know really don't need software. I know that because I reformatted my comp recently, totally wiped clean and reinstalled. I noticed that although I needed alot of drivers I never needed one for the CD burner or Rom. As I said before, get your Win98 disk and reinstall. The CD has built in drivers to correct most problems. After check for driver updates but not until you reinstall. This same thing happened to me, so I know what i'm doing. As for your laptop question, I can't help you, sorry. I don't do laptops.
-
ok thx 4 trying...
-
try booting in safe mode, if that does not work, tell me
-
that a.exe file was probably a cover up for an old virus that causes you CPU to overload the circuits of the motherboard and causing severe memory corruption and processing errors. That was could be wrong if you can't boot in safe mode.
-
o yeah a.exe is addware, i have had it before and it reproduces itself...
-
lol i fixed

Does the printer connect via network cable, parallel cable, or USB cable?

What is the make and model of your machine?
-
the printer connects through usb...(Lexmark X6170) and I am connecting through a linksys wireless-g 2.4GHz broadband router which is connected to my linksys modem which is connected into my computer through a "phone cord"(you know...its a broadband cord but it looks like the phone ones) and i'm on a Dell(pretty old maybe like 5 years old)The comp make-model:GenuineIntelx86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 6128.0MB RAMFile System: 32-bitVirtual Memory: 32-bitNo disc compression or PC cards installed...Hope that helps...
-
and by the way...my printer is connected to my home computer and i need to go through the wireless network and print the stuff off...but i cant find this computer (home computer) on my laptop through the wireless connection...this may be because the wireless router is connected dirrectly to the modem and the modem is connected to the computer...i am getting annoyed at the printer problem lol...

Find out the name of your home computer. If it's windows 98, you have to go to the control panel, click on network, and it should tell you what the name of the computer is. If it's XP, then right click on my computer, click on the computer name tab, and it should tell you the name next to "full computer name". Let's just pretend your computer name is "india".
Whichever computer is hooked up to the printer, go into your printer and faxes dialog box, right click on the printer icon, and choose sharing. Make the share name something simple.
Now, go to your laptop and type in \\\\computername.... or since we're pretending the computer name is india, then you would type in \\\\india
Notice I used \\\\ and not //
It makes a difference
If it finds the computer, it should show all the things that are shared on that computer. You should see the printer. Right click on the printer icon and click "connect". -
An example of make and model would be
Dell Inspiron or Dell Dimension.
The company is the make and the 2nd part is the model. Companies usually give some kind of number to go with it as well. For example, I have a Dell Dimension 4550.
If you bought it from dell first hand, it should have shipped with some blue disks that had all the drivers for your system. Do you have that? If so, the easiest thing to load all your PCI devices is to use the driver disk they gave you.
