In reply to: "The Hot Chick and Meet the Parents--------------------------------------------------------------------------------These are the funniest films you've seen? Have you seen any movies more than a couple of years old? Well if they weren't, I wouldn't have posted them in the thread tittled "Funniest Movies You've Seen?" Oh and I forgot, The Cable Guy.
-
Super Troopers was great. And sideways, which is out in the cheap movie theaters now, is pretty funny and full of subtle humor. Pretty good, but kinda drawn out.
-
Sideways is the best film i've seen in 2 or 3 years. Amazing. It is subtle. Wonderful metaphor.mmmmmm...yeah, good film.(Paul Giamatti got robbed!)
-
I also loved that movie. One New York Times writer turned a critical eye to the film, however, and said that a lot of critics liked the film because they saw themselves in Paul Giamatti...it was a narcissistic thing; the film itself was mediocre. But I disagree.Speaking of Paul Giamatti, you have to see American Splendor: "A 'fictionalised documentary', that sardonically captures the eclectic life of its subject - the comic book writer Harvey Pekar. Weaving genuine archive footage of Pekar through a tapestry of visual and narrative styles, the film confidently juxtaposes fantasy with reality to create a uniquely revealing biopic." [from /www.moviemail-online.co.uk] Now that was funny and damn good.
-
I've wanted to see American Splendor for some time. I keep trying to catch it on cable but keep missing it. Maybe I should use my vcr for what it was intended.Yeah, I sorta saw myself in Giamatti's characther in Sideways as well, but that's certainly not its only vaule.
-
Well I'd have to say the funniest movies that I have ever seen (or at least I thought they were funny, most people don't get my sense of humor) would be....Monty Python, The Full Monty, The Cable guy, Stuck on You, MAS*H, AIRPLANE!, 3 Men and a Baby, Harvey, Bringing Down the House, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, The Bird Cage, Cone Heads, all the Naked Gun movies.... I guess I should stop or this list will never end =X
-
The Bird Cage...filmed a mile from here...was good for tourism. I was trying to figure out how to rollerblade when they were filming it. I didn't know what was going on at the time, but there were a lot of trucks and cameras and booms and such on Ocean Drive.Hank Azaria (Agador "Spartacus"), who plays chief Wiggum, Dr. Nick Rivera, etc. on the Simpsons, was pretty damn funny. This is Spinal Tap is near the top of my list. Animal House is also good.
-
I also loved Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12... they were great! Also I just watched that new movie Be Cool and I thought it was pretty funny. Of course Be Cool is the type of movie you either really like it or you really hate it... no inbetween.
-
My brain is tapped out, but if you want to know what the American Film Institute thinks is funny: AFI's 100 YEARS...100 LAUGHS.
-
