I just started the ring and it says to wait a cycle before haivng sex without a second form of bc. It defines a cycle as seven days. So if I put it in friday night is it effective by next Friday night or the following saturday night? I'm really bad about figuring this stuff out. Usually I'd just wait until Saturday to be safe, but Friday is the last day i'll be free really. So thanks

How long is a cycle?
-
I'm not quite sure with the ring, but I would think next Friday night would be fine. Check with your doctor to be sure.
-
a cycle is the time that passes between periods, generally 28 days.
-
She said the instructions defined a cycle as 7 days
-
that's not a cycle... but whatever you say
-
I was referring the cycle of the ring. Because i was confused by the wording becuase yeah a menstrul cycle is 28 days on average.
-
One cycle of the ring would be three weeks.
-
so would that mean that I'd have to wait till I put the next ring in to have sex without a condom?

In reply to:It defines a cycle as seven days Were those the specific instructions that you read? A cycle of the ring is three weeks. Some forms of the pill you're covered after seven days. Where did you get the seven days from?
-
it said on the info packet that seven days was a cycle. So I was wondering if I could have condom less sex after on the seventh day. I can't ask my doctor becuase I'm on spring break.
-
You should have found this out before you went on spring break.
-
I thought my period was going to be a week later and I wouldn't see my boyfriend for a month after spring break so it would be a non issue.

My point is that your doctor/nurse should have explained everything about this form of birth control when your prescription was made out. People should make it a habit to ask their doctor all possible questions until they are satisfied when they are there face to face.
